Simon Blackwell, scriptwriter on the satirical comedy The Thick Of It, tweeted: “Genuinely, if that Conservative beer and bingo ad had come up at a Thick Of It script meeting we’d have rejected it as being too far-fetched.”

Fucking hell, that's chilling. Butchered a bit, mind:

"Heavy physical work, the care of home and children, petty quarrels with neighbors, films, football, beer and above all, gambling filled up the horizon of their minds. To keep them in control was not difficult.”

Nuclear Weapons.

What if the Ruskies decided to shake things up and launch a nuclear attack. What would be the actual consequences?

Would their missiles launch?

Would they really reach here?

How many do we think they would send our way?

How long would they take to get here?

What would the aftermath be like?

Would society collapse instantly?

I just wonder what the reality would be like compared to the Cold War propaganda / Hollywood movies we have grown up with.

Obviously an attack would upset the apple cart, but the dark forces may see a massive land grab and return to a USSR worth the initial shit fest.

Have we become to laid back to war?

Just spotted this. A nuclear attack would 'upset the apple cart'

So they should have been kept on regardless of whether they were needed or not?

The Tories mantra was Royal Mail needed outside private investment. Private investment has just cut costs instead. Quelle surprise!
