Christmas Tree 4729
David Kellys mention of Fatherland brought Rutger Hauer back to my memory as an actor I used to love to watch in my youth and always thought he should have been more successful than he was. Another all time favourite was Brian Dennehy who although starred in lots of films, always seemed to be second fiddle to the main stream A list. Thought he was particularly good in To catch a killer. A serial killer film based on the life of Wayne Gacy. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0105604/ Anyone else got any non a list favourites who you think should have got more recognition. (And if it turns out either of these have had several oscars and life time achievements, please dont make a song and dance about it, just add your picks). Gemmill 44995
Rutger Hauer was good in everything except Fatherland, in which he acted really dated.

Ayatollah Hermione 13894
Brian Dennehy just makes me think of the South Park movie. No, not fucking Brian Dennehy! As for this, Sam Rockwell is quality in absolutely everything he's been in (that I've seen)
Gemmill 44995
He's quality in The Way Way Back, which is well worth a watch.

NJS 4389
Always liked Rutger - despite some semi-dodgy stuff even after The Hitcher etc. There was a big campaign when Interview with the Vampire was being cast to get him the part of Lestat and supposedly Anne Rice wanted him as well before Cruise got the part - I think anyone's who's read the books would agree it as the wrong choice. Ayatollah Hermione 13894
Aye What a ridiculous reference to have on hand btw. Edward Norton Aye, I've no idea why Ed Norton isn't every movie studio's first choice for every role. Even curmudgeonly mother-in-laws or black pirates. Kevin Carr's Gloves 3905
Not to be picky but why are we talking about working actors in the past tense?
Meenzer 15561
Because otherwise the thread title would be "Actors you think have being underrated".

David Kelly 1245
Matthew McConaughey. I know he's done some shitty rom coms but he's been really good in nearly everything else I've seen him in from early stuff like Dazed and Confused and Lone Star (both excellent films in different ways) to more recent stuff like Mud, Bernie & The Paperboy (although the latter is a pretty shit film). Always liked Jeremy Piven in stuff too.

hostile_statue 0
Matthew McConaughey. Each to their own, but come on, he's terrible man! Also, he can't stand up by himself: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/09/23/matthew-mcconaughey-canno_n_296655.html Edited November 27, 2013 by hostile_statue

Gemmill 44995
There's a new show staring next year, either on HBO or Showtime, with him and Harrelson in. Crime thing. Might be decent.

Holden McGroin 6613
I think he is good as well. He just seemed to pick shit rom-coms for decades. I loved his bad-ass role in Reign of Fire.
