Christmas Tree 4826
Montpellier Chairman Laurent Nicollin has confirmed to local paper Midi Libre that he has agreed a deal with Newcastle to sell attacking midfielder Remy Cabella but not before June of 2014. He had the following to say: ‘We have agreed a deal with Newcastle, something I will not go into. However, the deal does not include the departure of Remy Cabella before June. That is a certainty.’ More to follow on this breaking story. Newcastle have an agreement in principle to sign attacking midfielder Remy Cabella from Montpellier this summer. Get French Football News understands that Montpellier and Newcastle have not actually agreed a specific fee for Remy Cabella yet, and that is something that they will work on in the coming months. What is in place is that Montpellier have agreed to transfer the player to Newcastle this summer.

hostile_statue 0
Another angle on all this. 5 months off a World Cup it could be a big risk for Cabaye to join a new team, settle in etc etc. If he goes to PSG, the biggest club in France and one of the best teams in Europe at the moment, I'd say he'll be in the limelight to a greater extent, in France and in the rest of the world... Why would Cabaye go to PSG with the new socialist's 75% tax set to become law? Doesn't seem to be a bright move to me.

PSG could feasibly pay him so much that the remaining 25% is actually pretty handsome. From our point of view it's better than if he went to one of our midtable rivals like Man Utd. Maybe because he'll win trophies, be playing in his home nation and play CL football. Although he might want that 8th place medal every footballer craves in their career? BigWalrus 0
Yeah but isn't that what happened with us and Jonas? I'm not saying it's likely but it's concerning me slightly. It is, but Jonas was earning pennies at Mallorca. His payoff would have been relatively small, potentially funded by selling a house.
BigWalrus 0
To be fair, NUFC have said nowt on the matter. The only people saying anything are the agent and Montpellier's chairman.
ChezGiven 0
Only our club could sign someone as vaguely as that... A prudent move, bringing someone in to give the lads a lift without actually taking on any financial risk, Montpellier keep paying his wages and we've taken an important step forwards with squad depth and attacking options. It's a win-win but not really, a kind of good move if you think about it, could work out positively given the right circumstances. Kinnear is a genius. Christmas Tree 4826
This is from Sky - he also said that we'll only bid for Cabella if a first team player gets injured. Did you find this link Tom?
