US election 2016

Well, I guess we'll see. Another 5 years of Neo-Liberal bullshit await, and it'll be interesting to see the lay of the land when it comes to the next election.

Yeah, she's a standard politician tbh and that's what we'll see. I think there's so much venom to this election that she's likely to be a one-term president, despite that it'll be 8 years before any change on that front as we've seen what an anti-establishment bloke on the right looks like and it's not pretty and since she would be the standing president she would be the Dem candidate so the right will be the only source of that anti-establishment one.

Well it was more about the fact that he has spent the last thirty five years as a professional politican and has a net worth of seven figures.

His net worth is c.$500,000 as far as I can tell. But yes, I take the career politician bit. I'm not saying he was perfect but he ticked more boxes than Hillary.

When I said specific before I meant specifically about her, there seems to be an almost personal dislike from what I can tell.

Both her and bill are from exceptionally modest backgrounds to be president of the USA. Of course they're rich now compared to Joe Bloggs but they've done it off their own backs which surely is at least partly admirable? I guess you could accuse them of being from a political dynasty but again that's self made.

I have nothing really against them personally. I thought Bill was ok to be honest, I'm rather surprised by a number of the things that have come out about him in recent weeks. But then, I thought he was ok about the same time I thought Blair was doing a good job. And now, years on, when I'm looking at where it's left us... I'm no longer so sure.

Take the point on them being self made though, that's fair enough and indeed is admirable. Not sure it makes them beyond being bought or in other people's pockets though.

That's a good if depressing point. Of course if Parky is right we'll all be dead or post-apocalyptic zombies by then.

Agree with Renton, this is a good point...

Fuck. The right it is then.

His pension alone is worth $1,000,000.

Anyway, I don't want my leaders to be poor. I'd prefer them to be rich and successful.

 Maybe it won't be so bad, the most depressing fact is when you think after those 8 years most of these Bernie supporters will be in their 30's and will be jaded enough by then not to be pushing for anything. We'll probably all be chipped and fucking robots by then mind and any anti-establishment thoughts would have us sent to the vaporizer.

I'm in my 30s and still livid :D there's hope for us all.

Though I'll be 38 by then... I'd run for office myself but my TT posting history would be used against me i think.

Why, does that make them less susceptible to corruption? Or does it somehow imply capability. I know a lot of very rich morons, all self made.

Is that it?

Fair enough to Trump then, really. I mean, I can see why he'd have him there. I assumed he was a jihadist or something.
