Just curious as to who Pardew as referring to when he says other players need to step up. De Jong is also on loan, Shola is out of contract and Cisse is to be sold...

Ben Arfur ?

Well yes, but he also said we shouldn't be reliant on a player who is leaving in the summer. Instead, apparently, we should be reliant on a bunch of players who are leaving in the summer...

He was referring to Vurnon Anita. He's got a Broon Ale crate for him to stand on for next season's photocall. :good:

Ah right thanks for clearing that up for us young 'un.

It's rehashed from a Louise "Mackem" Taylor story, who is notoriously anti-Newcastle. She could easily have dreamt the story.

She could have, so it's lucky Pardew said Ben Arfa needs to win the trust of his teammates so she could quote him on it and it not be a hatchet job at all.

So you believe the assumption that the players only turned on HBA because Cabaye wasn't there to hold things together? That's not something that Pardew has said or implied.

Nar. You had a pop at Taylor for her accurate report off the back of the Mag`s claims though.

Louise Taylor is a charlatan, man. She's been banging on about Pardew's headbutt non-stop since it happened, presumably because there is nothing meaningful she can write about Sunderland and their exciting relegation campaign. Any excuse to unsettle us.

She was also adamant that Pardew was going to get sacked earlier in the season, being informed by 'inside sources' etc etc, right before we started beating the Man Utds and Chelseas of the league. I find her insufferable, which is a shame cos the Guardian's analysis is generally pretty good.

To be fair, I haven't read her original report. I do know what she's like though, and will get all the mileage she can from a single quote, building several level of assumptions.

It's the equivalent of getting a text from a mate to say he's going to be half an hour late arriving to the pub and automatically assuming its because he's shagging your wife.

Leave Pardew out of it.

  • 2 weeks later...

Due to stand trial in July on drink driving charges. Does this mean that our resident mackem/mackem hater has lost the moral high ground with the drink driving ex-chairman? That'd be quite a blow.
