We won't get him for £7/8m. QPR aren't looking to get rid, they just realise that there's nothing they can do if a club meets his buy out clause. They wouldn't give him to us for a penny less than they're entitled to.

I'm not so sure about that. Yes they may not be desperate to get rid of him but we all know what he's like and I can see him trying to force them to accept a lower fee to get a move (not necessarily to us but to someone). You're right we won't get him that cheap but I think he'll end up moving for less than £15m (if that is in fact the release clause for non europe clubs).

I agree, but they should probably just let us have him if he'll come. They can reinvest the money in players that want to be there, for their survival bid. I don't think anyone will pay £10m+ if there's medical problems anyway.

They don't need the money though. And they're far better having a player there looking to play his way to a move than not. It'd be interesting to know what the medical problem is given that neither ourselves or QPR picked up on it or decided it wasn't worth scuppering the deal for.

Redknapp:

“He’ll come back here. I don’t know how he’s failed a medical."

“He had a stringent medical here."

“He had one at Marseille and he had one at Newcastle."

“He had one with the French team before the World Cup. You couldn’t meet a fitter lad."

“I don’t see how there can be any issue with his fitness.”

“Their loss is our gain. My gain really."

“I’ve got a fantastic striker and I said when he went last year he’s a striker that is capable of getting 20 goals in the Premier League."

“So that’s what we need him to do."

“Get 20 goals for QPR and we’ll be delighted. He’s capable of doing that."

“I’m disappointed for the boy and sorry his move to Liverpool didn’t happen, but from my point of view I’ve got a great striker.”

“It can’t be a medical, he’s always been fit."

“It must be other reasons. It’s not possible."

“You couldn’t meet a fitter lad than him."

Harry redknapps expert medical analysis, if you've not failed one before you never can.

Can't wait til he retires, so disappointed that he's back in the PL with the coverage he gets.

 Aye he's a right sack like. It's the way he happily discusses other teams players that has always bothered me.

I reckon he'd rather play for us than QPR. Whether they'd sell to us is a whole different matter.

I don't think they have much of a choice if we meet his release clause. Although I'm not sure Ashley is licking his lips at the thought of paying 15M for a 27 year old.

Wouldn't be shocked to see another year loan

I'd be surprised if QPR sanctioned that. We're a rival to them this season and at the end of it his contract would have another year chalked off and he'd be a year older. So his value would reduce further. We'd have to pay them a pretty high loan fee to make it worth their while.

How do you figure we're a rival to them this season?

Of course we need a striker of his quality and proven record but .........he'll never play for Newcastle. He'll play for the money, future prospects, and what's in his best interests by way of fame and fortune. Remy is an out and out mercenary, he turned us down before because he was offered big money by a club headed for relegation. I'd like to see him not get what he wants and is stuck with Harry.

I moved from a massive multibillion dollar company to a smaller place this summer for work in part because they were paying me better.

Mercenary is a stupid term to describe footballers, they're doing their job, like most people they want to make as much as they can so they can enjoy thier lives put themselves in the best position for when they stop work.
