McFaul 35
She looks like she's having a shite. I don't think I've felt more apathy to Newcastle United in my entire life as I'm feeling at the moment, which is why I hardly post. I'll still buy my season ticket every year, but I'm just fucking sick of it. Two thirds through July and we've still signed no one. Our main striker looks like he's leaving which leaves us with SHOLA! Shola Ameobi as our main striker. I'm sure we'll sign someone but even if Cisse stays I think we need two. Just what planet does Ashley live on. I have no doubt there was a fall out with Llambias, and that's why he left, but he gets Kinnear in, who then goes on fucking holiday, and we've still signed no one. What could possibly have been the thought process behind bringing Kinnear in? I'm just sick of it, beyond the joke, we are a wank football club. What could possibly have been the thought process behind bringing Kinnear in? I'm just sick of it, beyond the joke, we are a wank football club. The rumour doing the rounds in May/June was Pardew and Llambias fell out over the "no over 25's rule". Bent was the name being banded around with the rumour, so I think it may have been close to the truth. If you believe this, which I do, then brining in Kinnear to have the casting vote wasnt such a bad decision, what alternatives did Ashley have. Sure the press have had a field day, but Kinear has a footballing brain - cancelling the Douglas deal (we have Coloccini, Taylor, Mbiwa & Williamson) and sanctioning the Bent deal (we have no cover for Cisse) backs the point up pretty well for me. As for Kinnear going on holiday, I highly doubt anyone at the club expected Llambias to walk, so the plan would have been for Kinnear to come in to finalise the targets and Llambias to work on completing them. So the issue is not Kinear being hired or going on holiday, but Llambias - who does near to f**k all during the season, quitting when he's needed to work on transfers! Phil 6
Wasn't the crack that Llambias was one of Pardew's allies in the boardroom? After the lack of transfers last summer and blocking the Debuchy deal over 500k, I'm pretty sure Pardew will be glad to see the back of Llambias. A football brain so good he's unaware of the proper names of two established France internationals who happen to also be employed by his new employers. There's absolute no evidence to suggest he has a football brain and he hasn't even been in football for FOUR years during a time when he nearly DIED. He managed at a time where grit determination ruled over tactics and he spent the longest time at the most vile team in the history of English football. He can't even remember how long he was here for man, 4 month is apparently 2 years. One of the biggest joke decisions in recent footballing history employing him for a second time. Truly it is on any level. Edited July 19, 2013 by McFaul

Truly it is on any level. That's the stand out point for me. If he were famous for being a savy operator, a shrewd tactician or whatever, then fine, pull him out of retirement. He's never had a "football brain", no more than Vinny Jones does. You're right Stevie it was grit and determination that got him his (limited) success and it will be the sum total of his input to tactic talks. Truly it is on any level. I'm not saying he's a tactical genius or anything - I'm not that daft. Just that he knows more than his fair bit about the game, certainly a lot more than people give him credit for. This was highlighted by him blocking the Douglas deal (we have 4 senior centre backs) and sanctioning the Bent deal (we have 1 senior striker). While this may seem obvious to most fans. Llambias wanted Douglas and not Bent - clearly the wrong decision for the football club, most probably based on resale value. I agree with your main point that we should have made our signings already, but the fact Llambias and Pardew couldn't agreed on targets meant it was always going to be a slow summer. Then Llambias (who does our transfer negotiations) walked. These are the reasons we've made no signings, not Kinnears going on holiday; or Ashley hiring Kinnear to have final say on transfers. Williamson who's not very good and Taylor who is a liability due to how many injuries he picks up and is average at best.
