Andrew 4857
Would be wondering why he didnt mind when it was Virgin money. Something the Muslim council of Britain never answered me on when I asked them about it
scoobos 298
I suppose. The difference is that Virgin Money are a retail bank - Wonga are purely lenders, and the worst kind at that. My view will always be that NUFC's affiliation with Wonga is shameful, we should have more scruples than that. But with those two at the top, they care little about the toon, its reputation or anything, I reckon they think we're all just northern monkeys who are too stupid and fickle to ever complain with our wallets.... Andrew 4857
They still profit from money lending Unless there's an upper limit on interest rates written into Muslim law
scoobos 298
sure, and I agree with your point. BUT Wonga are purely lending, and are very very aggressive with the profit they generate from that.

ChezGiven 0
sure, and I agree with your point. BUT Wonga are purely lending, and are very very aggressive with the profit they generate from that. That's got nothing to do with the point here has it though? Sharia law forbids making profit from money lending which i why Virgin money doesnt have a branch in Kabul. Islamic banks use specific methods to lend capital and make a return which is not based on a rate of interest, which is what the jews are all about. The facts: Virgin money is not compliant with Sharia law. Wonga is not compliant with Sharia law. Papiss Cisse is not compliant with Sharia law. Papiss Cisse wants a pay rise. Toonpack 9948
I heard it didn't impress her much Very good Based upon observations of Cisse, I Believe Sharia offside applies the same rules as for Muslim women walking behind their men, so Cisse gets 3 yards ahead of the infidel, only has to be level with a Muslim defender. Chez nailed the serious question btw. Edited June 12, 2013 by Toonpack

TheMoog 0
Imo this is a load of old bollocks to be honest, I'm fed up with hearing about how bad Wonga are - yes, their morals may be questionable in that they have crazy rates but nobody is forced to use them and those that do are aware of the penalties if they can't manage their budget or plan the repayments properly. Regardless of the commercial side of what these banks or lenders do the Muslim law behind forbidding their use is down to interest and profit from the act of money lending from what I can tell and all lenders do it, whether they're banks or specialised lenders, hence Muslims have their special accounts. Northern Rock, Virgin Money and Wonga are no different from each other in respect of making a profit so the whole debate is ridiculous - if Cissé wants to use it as an excuse to leave the club then so be it, though we'll have to start getting a decent strike force together a bit sharpish or we'll be left with Shola's arse to score the goals. Seems like the media speculating and assuming things because "it makes sense". There are NO quotes attributed to Cisse in the last few months "speculative" stories, as has been said many times he happily wore the Virgin Money shirt (Virgin charge interest on their loans also!!), and most premier league teams have gambling/financial/loan/alcohol company sponsors, also the Premier League are sponsored by Barclays are they not (who also charge interest on THEIR loans). In short I agree with Fish! Lazy journalism from our "Southern Press Attack Squad"
