I know only too well Im not cut out for them, however I hate being ripped off. I'd guess that: 1) the wood he was cutting was just balanced on something , probably the wood he's already launched into the plot. 2) the saw blade will have been sticking, and our boy in Boldon actually burnt calories by trying to force it, resulting in the blade jumping out of the cut.
