Happy Face 29
After January - with 1st team striker left (shola doesnt count) - I'd bet the majority of managers would struggle to get 5 foreign players to instantly fit and gel in the team and its ethos. You can call Man City or something stupid like that, but they are WORLD CLASS established players - not the players we buy. (Deb perhaps excepted) I'm swaying towards the idea that we should just get back to our bread and butter where possible and give anyone bought in January the luxury of impacting things from the bench if needed. I think we only need to rely on Haidara to start in Santon's absence, apart from that we should be able to put out a team that have played together for over a year and know each others strengths and weaknesses. Just put the old slippers on for a few games rather than trying to break in the new smart shoes that are causing blisters. Having Sissoko, Gouffran, Mbiwa and Debuchy on the bench is a lot more comforting when you need to change up at half time too.
scoobos 298
I'm with you HF 100% - however the "2nd teamers" didnt perform and got put out on loan, who would fill all positions? I think we are in a tough place now where we don't even have the luxury of falling back to PLAN A , because the younger players got disgraced in the media by Alan Pardew himself as "Not good enough" after a handful of games - and then loaned out. ah christ, here's me thinking im optimistic - this post doesnt read that way. scoobos 298
heh, yeah. I still dont think we can put that team out though either, as Colo + HBA aren't fit . It would be Perch and Williamson *Blegh* I'm not arguing mind, I think its much more realistic to add players to the team in a gradual manner, than throw them all together into a league they don't know and ask them to instantly play pardew's way. PaddockLad 17130
Tiote needs dropped. So does Cabaye. And you can only count on Ameobi for penalties. HBA and Colo half fit at best. Simpson on the way out. Cisse hit and miss. Taylor was awful v Liverpool. Elliot half the player Krul is. Apart from that, its a team with a lot going for it

If we're dropping players for being shit recently then there'll have to be a lot of u19s that start against West Ham. Get back to what we know and see the season out. Happy Face 29
Does anyone seriously believe Pardew will do something different this weekend? He could play a fire breathing Dragon and Willow the Wisp as part of a 1-1-8 formation and not play a pass longer than 7.5 feet....when we lost embarrassingly you'd be on here saying "same old Pardew, refusing to make any changes, long balls and set up defensively"
