Tom 14020
If we'd kept or replaced Ba we wouldn't be in this mess for certain. Even replacing Lovenkrands and Best would have been nice.
Tooj 17
We sold Ba and brought in five players though. The team after January was definitely in a much better shape, we just don't have the manager to show us that.

NJS 4411
Is it Pardew's fault that Shola is the second best striker at the club? Yes - he gave him a contract and wants to give him another. It may not be his fault there aren't better options but the fact that it is someone so useless is down to him.
ChezGiven 0
Point being The players should have had the game sewn up. Pardew can't score the chances he has us set up to create. We had more shots on and off target and the players they fell to didn't capitalise. It was the same Story against Sunderland. If we create a lot of chances but only have the quality to convert what? 8%? Then I assume that people who are critical of the manager expect Pardew to send out a team set up to create at least an extra 10 chances per game. Based on what is therefore needed in a game that has 1 goal in it. Pardew critics, if our chance creation to conversion rate is so poor, for us to win more games we need to create significantly more chances. Given the conversion rate is so low, is this realistic? ChezGiven 0
Well aye and I think Pardew deserves a lot of criticism but if we are creating good chances (at a rate that is expected from the games we are playing in) then some of the blame has to be shouldered by the players too. Overall he has had a poor season but if he keeps us up, he deserves another crack at it.
Kevin Carr's Gloves 3996
So is it anyones fault we fall apart in the 2nd half?
Tom 14020
Steve Clarke might have had a pretty big say in it.
Christmas Tree 4858
It's a joke man. Norwich, Stoke, West Ham, Wigan, Southampton, Sunderland and Swansea.... All above us in the league but its not Pardews fault.

luckyluke 2
Does a better manager steer a sitter in? No, but he might do something about poor finishing in training. It's difficult to really blame everything on Pardew due to his lack of influence on transfers but ultimately EVERYTHING is the responsibility of the management of the club. If your players keep missing sitters then coach them to be better finishers or get new players. You don't just say "we'll I've done all I can" and accept that you're always going to need ten shots before one goes in.
Tom 14020
He's not a manager by definition he's a coach. How many managers in the league have one striker capable of playing 90 minutes? I imagine Cisse works on finishing regularly - but at the end of the day - in modern football you need a specialist.
Anorthernsoul 1221
To be fair the core of our team is the same as last year, they simply haven't performed for 90 minutes often enough this season. Add that to the fact the strengthening should have been done last summer, and Pardew struggling to outwit the opposition manager quite often this season we would do well to forget the campaign in a hurry. Kevin Carr's Gloves 3996
Whose fault is it we are shit at corners? Whose fault is it we have a huge drop in performance in the 2nd half? Toonpack 10032
Who's responsible for appointing the manager? We've been (as have most clubs) unrelentingly crap at that forever (with a couple of rare exceptions).
PaddockLad 17727
All those calling Pardew are reminding me of the Blackburn fans who called Steve Kean all last season.....theyre missing the point by a million fucking miles. 8 year contracts do tend to send a very specific message. NJS 4411
Who's fault is it our standards are higher? Higher than anything approaching decent? I honestly cant remember a period of consistently abysmal set plays in my supporting life - and thats something completely down to the coaching staff. Tom 14020
Well exactly - we are quite understaffed in that department just as we are in the playing department. There's been some decent corners put in - no doubt about it - Cabaye's have been ok, Marveuax's slightly better but who's getting on the end of them? Who do we have to actually threaten? Cisse can head a ball but only when he's unchallenged. Shola should probably look more dangerous in his cameos but at the end of the day there isn't a proper header of the ball there. PaddockLad 17727
We've been (as have most clubs) unrelentingly crap at that forever (with a couple of rare exceptions). The peasants are revolting. They've got valid enough reasons. Thing is Ashley has always appointed someone needing a job and who was greatful for the chance. He needs to be as ambitious with his next managerial appointment as he has been with the players who have come to the club. He'll pull the trigger when he needs to, ask Hughton. But as I've said, the 8 year contract sends a message and if we're bobbing along in mid table for most of that it may well suit Ashley very well as he claws back his investment. Then you've got to get someone who would gladly work for Ashley...lets face it, we're not looking upwards, even fuckin Redknapp refused. But people need to realise Pardew didn't give himself the contract. If he's mediocre verging on shit and its got to the point where its time for a change then some people need to start getting the message to the man who appointed him. Carroll isn't the only header of a ball in the world but I'd take him back. What happened to midfielders who'd win you a header?
