You do realise "large areas of the country" voted for her 3 general elections in a row?

Most she ever got was 41% /i think - geographically divided as now.

Liberals are just as culpable for her reign imo.

As for "Me, Myself, Now" - well, that could basically be the motto of the current benefits culture of this country

and what is that a direct product of?

I think you know.

Don't say that man. That'll just be a massive downer for all the people jizzing in their pants at the thought of Maggie burning in hell. The crushing reality for them if there is no hell, is that then things are as I described - she died presumably happy in the knowledge that most of the changes she brought to Britain live on today, untouched by any (electable) politician. Her only detractors are the haters on display here, and the pathetic figures like Dennis Skinner and George Galloway and Ken Livinstone and all the other crusty irrelevant wanks who get far more airtime than their contributions to the wider political discourse of today really deserve. When a 'socialist' like Obama is praising her as a defender of freedom etc, then you know you're on the wrong side of history, you're one of the defeated. Suck it up, losers!

My friend, Thatcher is not well loved in this country. I don't think a majority would profess to love her, and our comments here along with the thousands like them all over the country should be enough to show you that we are refusing to accept revisionist history. As long as we refuse to do that, she has not won. I mean for one thing, the Tories collapsed without her and allowed 13 years of Labour, which she was conscious for, and will surely have hated. She was demented by the time the Tories were in power again.

She created the 'everyone in it for themselves' culture that has lead to mass benefits abuse, tax evasion and the break down of society. Without her, people would have been socially castigated for being on benefits - she allowed people to rationalise that they were 'doing right by themselves'. I mention benefits not because I'm opposed to them, but because she would have hated it.

Here's the news Romeo...The EU is a socialist dictorship. I win.

That's maybe what the papers tell you. If you weren't so bonkers and were able to get a real job, perhaps one that brought you some experience of the actual EU, you'd realise that in most respects (those that matter), it is nothing but a gigantic lobbyist forum. It's only socialist in the sense that...well, it's pretty hard to end that sentence with any actual factual information at all.

Thatcher was all about friends and family, it's pretty ignorant of anyone to claim otherwise really. And contrary to popular opinion, she didn't say there was no society, she simply pointed out that society is made up of us - our friends and family, and that the people who treated them as two distinct things were deluding themselves. Pretty obvious stuff, that was unsurprisingly beyond the comprehension of the people who, through their socialist upbringing or whatever, were unable to empathise with the effect their thoughts and feelings about society had on the friends and families of others (ie, the bits of society that they presumably didn't either personally know, or feel affinity with due to a shared class or whatever). As for "Me, Myself, Now" - well, that could basically be the motto of the current benefits culture of this country, something that even Thatcher couldn't reform properly.

"Even Thatcher couldn't reform properly"?

She fucking created the problem, she practically invented unemployment in this country.

I've read the society quote in context and it is absolutely chilling.

It was her who first put so many on incapacity to reduce the total but think about how your argument fits with the bankers

Played the patriot card shamelessly while as you say telling everyone to sod everyone except your family.

Are you asking who invented the notion of a benefits system? Or who presided its transformation into what it is today? Either way, the answer is the same - Labour governments of various eras.

Who took their jobs away and invented the welfare class? Generations thrown on the scrapheap due to her de-industrialisation & countless towns still haven't recovered.

Thatcher married a multi-millionaire before she was an MP (who had gold and diamond investments in South Africa). She was given a safe tory seat to fight (no heroics there). She did the bidding of the CFR and the emerging atlantic consensus (money markets, think tanks, ngo's and so on...) She had the backing of the right wing media (News international and so on..)She was a puppet for the ruling elite that wanted to de-industrialise the west and thus remove wage bargaining, workers rights and their political dienfranchisement. She was only removed when she forgot the script regarding europe...One thing she was absolutely right about.

One day when she will be remembered as what she was - a traitor to her country in favour of the international elite.

You are bonkers.

The EU has already and will over time undo everything Thatcher did. She will be remmebered as a fly in a gigantic EU buffet of wealth spreading, rights bargaing and country bankcrupting. She was smalltime. She was only big at a time when England thougt it was small. I would thrash her at chess, bridge or any other fanciful wager she could ever come up with.

We need some HF graphs - unemployment by the old count reached nearly 5m under Thatcher.

And if you're questioning the entire invention of the welfare state then you are even more right wing than her.

I know that is so factually accurate you can't scheme some hyperbole up to get round it. ;)

Think it was the Adam Smith institure and the CFR at the time with their neo-liberal privatisation scams.

What a lot of Thatcher haters forget, is what preluded her election win in 79.

The winter of discontent, (google it young'uns) when the unions ran rule of a sick Britain like some mafia operation from Boardwalk Empire.

Cars couldnt drive down streets for rubbish bags, families couldnt bury the dead.

Britain was seen as the sick man of europe, top tax rate was 98% so the job creators fucked off.

Rather than look to the future and the threat of Asia to manufacturing, unions were only interested in the here and now.

Had union leaders worked with governments of the day then maybe we too could have been a Germany. They didnt and the rest was history.

The bottom line is Thatcher changed this country from a dying creaking dinasaur to a real player that the entire world, be that Reagan or Gorbachev, took notice of.

Sure, she didnt get everything right but she transformed the country and those transformations were praised and carried on by Blair.

Who the hell signs up to a Newcastle football forum to defend and indeed celebrate Margaret Thatcher on the day of her death?

No other reason was good enough then? FREAK.

You should know by now that when you try and use "facts" you lose/

More days were lost to strikes under her.

the top rate was 60% - the 98 included investment income which only applied to the mega rich.

Like she would have worked with the unions.

I asked you yesterday to expain how other countries did it better with less pain - Im guessing I'll not get any answers.

She invented the welfare class by taking people's jobs away? You've got that back to front. She freed the country from the burden of having to pay for unecomic industries, and one of the benefits of that was that when they all went running to the dole office to collect their 'entitlements' there was enough money in the pot to pay for them, as well as to fund future industries like the Nissan plant that has outlasted any nationalised factory opened in the godawful era of the 70s. It's a shame that so much money was wasted fighting cunts like Arthur Scargill, and other scumbags who never created a single job in their entire lives (except of course the cleaner for his NUM funded house, who is probably Polish as there's no English person willing to lower themselves to such a position).

???

You keep mentioning Blair like the left think he's anything but a warmongering, self serving arsehole.

The conversation is about how Thatcher increased poverty levels, increased unemployment, saw two recessions under her governance, began the house-price-boom, increased the pay gap and with that saw a dramatic rise in inequality.

http://www.guardian....thatcher-charts

Add to that her tolerance of South Africa's Apartheid, cozying up to dictators like Pinochet, her demonising of football fans (specifically her role in covering up the Hillsborough criminals)
