I've still got my original, sans gravy stains but hey, whatever makes the mackems happy. ;)

Still got mine too but would love it, to paraphrase KK, if they reissued the away kit that the current one is a tribute to

Still got mine too, few clicks mind, must be where me mother tried to scrub the grayevy stains out with a brillo pad. (Marra)

On a related subject I’m sure I first saw that strip warn pre-season v Gateshead, but not at either our place or theirs. Vaguely remember it being this side of the Tyne somewhere. Then again it probably wasn’t even Gateshead.

We played them in a pre-season friendly but I’m fairly sure it was at Gateshead International Stadium. I didn’t actually go but my mate went and afterwards recalled the crowd singing ‘Boom, Boom, Boom, Let me hear you say whey aye’ to the tune of the Outhere Brothers hit.

Got an unworn, mint one of those as well. Remember being unable to buy the right size at the time, so I got a size down, hoping I'd fit into it eventually, it now fits but I cannot bring myself to sully it.

That’s right! It was that, of course.

I remember a lad briefly worked at my job who, when I went near him, would just be singing/mumbling constantly that outhere bros song when it was out , just saying the boom, boom, boom and the wayo bit and he definitely had the Abby Normal brain. That's what comes to mind with that song.

Aye dredging thru the dusty memory banks I think it was there and we were all on the side of the ground opposite the main stand which is the only other part I’ve ever been in in that ground (pretty soulless place)

Aye, I’ve seen the occasional match there and it suffers from having the running track around it

Saw Blyth Spartans there one boxing Day or New Years Day awhile back, was canny busy for that lvl of a fixture but atmosphere was awful, the track as you say and those huge big open ends behind both goals. I’m sure I heard a few years ago that Gateshead were looking at a purpose built ground?

They were. They had one years ago near where the ‘Rocket’ tower block used to be. But we’re talking decades back I think. When they were in the football league. There was some talk about a new one, with plans in place, etc. I don’t think the funds ever materialised.

They were kicked out of the playoffs last season because their lease on the ground wasn't long enough. Been sorted in case they go up this season apparently

The 95/97 shirt went on sale 30mins ago. The Shearer printed version has sold out in every size at £108 a pop.

Like a freak I've bought a large and a medium as a medium back then in most of our Adidas shirts was like a large. If it's modern sizing I'll keep the large and give the medium to the youngest if it isn't too big? I've also took a chance on the 88 away shirt being better than the dhgate version and being closer to the original collar. I've a dhgate version of the grandad collar but it's slightly tight and the brown ale logo feels like it has cardboard in it rather than being just stitching like the original. (For £90 each it better be exactly the same as the original).

for a global brand, their supply chain seems total shit. surely they know they can fleece us for more money, or perhaps they're intentionally keeping supplies low to build up hype and demand.

I mean, I love the shirt, but fuck me, £90 for a shirt? nah.

Might make the difference in getting a replacement for Ciggy or your wife's favourite plaything. 👍

Aye, but Gateshead FC don't own Gateshead stadium. They get permission to play there from Gateshead council, who can kick them out at a years notice

That was a reaction to someone who had posted that they were there on the day it opened with a vid of Brendean Fosterm, post seems to be gone now.

Brendean Fosterm sounds Roman, I think they were gone by the time Gateshead Stadium opened. The plot thickens.
