Gemmill 44811
I'm not up for signing people on rape charges. Even setting aside morality (which you shouldn't), it makes no sense to sign someone who might be doing time next season.
acrossthepond 877
Also not in favour of buying him. We need strikers, but we don't need them so badly that we have to stoop to buying alleged rapists (and mercenaries, as though we didn't know that already) from relegated teams. Ba was one thing but this is beyond the pale for me.
ewerk 30569
I would guess that there may be some sort of clause in his deal/our deal with QPR that allows for the situation where he goes down.

JawD 99
Surprise surprise but misery moo here doesn't think we should buy the dick. He turned us down for money He got accused of Rape He isn't even all that good at QPR. It's coming to something if our best bet is trying to get remy on the cheap because he's facing charges and not made an impact. Turned us down for money? Not sure what your point there is. Who are we to him? "Accused" of rape. Innocent currently then. No good at QPR? - Looked pretty good what I saw of him like all things considered. Played 11, scored 4. desmondTUTU 0
statistically 100 percent of professional footballers are innocent of rape. courtesy of squealing little money grabbing bitches society.

I just think we should focus our attention on strikers not in the "currently on a rape charge" column. There must be some out there ffs.
David Kelly 1244
The whole rape argument is fair enough. Altough none of us have any knowlege of what's going on there, it may be a nothing charge (it's hardly being given much attention in the press which I would think it would if there was much chance of him going down for it). I can also understand anyone who would have bad feelings towards him for fucking us about last time (although as JawD said he had no obligations or ties to us and they were offering him more money, life in London and at the time looked more like a club looking to move forward than we did). But I don't get anyone knocking how he played for QPR. He scored some good goals, looked threatening and was generally one of their only bright spots. For me he's shown that he can cut it in this league and I think he'd be a good player for anyone who got him.

santiagomn8 0
We need a striker but Remy I don't know about this at all. As everyone here has stated the rape charge and snubbing us for more money are hard to look past but I think more importantly it sends the wrong message. We are the laughing stock of the league right now and bringing in players that don't want to be here cause we are desperate makes us look bad it's bad for future business and it bad for the locker room it makes players do things such as (say they don't want to play cause of a sponser but then get caught at a casino smh). We need players that want to play for us believe in the team and want to bring trophies to Newcastle. I honestly rather lose with players who really work their ass off for this club then win with players with horrible mentalities that tarnish the club name and legacy

David Kelly 1244
Let's face facts. Pretty much all premiership players are cunts of the highest order. We pay them to play football for us not to be nice people. As long as they play well who gives a fuck if they're arseholes (obviously anyone's who's a rapist should be locked up and playing football but I'm working on the assumption that he's innocent at this stage). GeordieMark 0
Hope we do sign Remy mind. Nothing can stop him getting the opposition box once he sets his mind to it. Seriously though, people go on about him being a money grabber. All footballers are money grabbers. Cabaye left Lille, and Champions League football, for more money. Ben Arfa too. Yes, they moved from Ligue 1 to the Premier League which would be a draw but ultimately they would not be coming for less money would they? Demba Ba chose us for money, then left for more, and we had people surprised. Imagine you were at Swansea on 20k a week, European football this season. Offers from Cardiff (with a release clause) and Fulham came in and they offered you 40k and 30k respectively, but Cardiff were offering you £500k to sign on, whereas Fulham were offering you £300k, you would be an idiot to turn down the money. If you have no affiliation to a club then you chase the money, just like we do with jobs. At the end of the day, he will score you around 15 goals a season and that is well worth the money reported by the press.
GeordieMark 0
Good point on Ben Arfa, I think he wanted a fresh start, but again he would have left for the highest bidder in terms of wages. Kid Dynamite 7025
Interesting stats from .com today. Including Cisse who isn't in the first team picture currently, the players who have left the club either permanently or on loan accounted for 100 starting places in the league games alone last season. They also accounted for 21 substitute appearances and 22 of our 45 league goals! I know we have Sissoko, Haidara, Debuchy, Mbiwa and Gouffran now but they were also here for a full half season and are taken into account with those stats so there are still an awful lot ofstarting places that are going to be unaccounted for this year. Basically, a couple of injuries to our starters (which looking at our history is near enough guaranteed) is going to see us in deep shit. The likes of Sammy, Bigi, Haidara, Campbell are all good prospects, but starting them against the big teams is like playing with 9 men sometimes. Some of the very best who are already on a disgusting amount may make their descision based on challenging for honours and fewer still will shun a move to stay at a club they love (like Shearer or Le Tissier) but those players are few and far between. They do a job and they want to get the most money they can for doing it. Why people think they should show and any loyalty is beyond me.

The fact that those players we signed in January are here does make a massive difference though. Simpson only had a couple of games after Debuchy signed, Gosling played fuck all, Harper barely got a run out (anyway you look at it he was third choice), Raylor didn't play all season, Ranger had two sub appearences all season, Fergusson had a few run outs but barely anything from January. The only players who have left that have any baring are Ba (who clearly needs replacing although I would still argue that a fair portion of the goals he scored would have been scored by Cisse if he'd played as a striker in more of those games) and Perch. And Perch only played because we had such a wretched time with injuries. Cisse shouldn't be included unless he goes. I'm not saying we're not short by any means as we clearly need two strikers even with Cisse and personally I think we desperately need someone to play on the left, but stats like the ones .com have put up are misleading.
