Brock Manson 0
Perch is a good backup to have, and he can play a role as a DM when we need to hold on for a result. Not a starter though. I read that we're interested in Gignac...didn't he have a bad injury and subsequent spell of poor form recently? Not sure why we'd pay the £12m quoted... We get rid of some fringe players that never really panned out. In the process we buy just 4 players which i see as realistic. We fill the holes we had and add some pretty good depth to the squad. The ideal starting lineup we have gives Newcastle a lot of pace and creativity which we have been lacking, but we also have some nice players on the bench that gives us good diversity. adios 717
how much have you seen of montero? you can say goodbye to the chances of joe signing anyone with a fancy looking name anyway. ince seems a possibility, as he's probably heard of his dad. I am Ecuadorian so i follow most Ecuadorian players careers. Montero is the best player we have in my opinion. While Valencia gets most of the attention playing for Man U most Ecuadorians will tell you Montero is the catalyst that makes us go. He only has a 3.5 mil release clause and hes 23 that would be a good piece of business in my opinion. As for the other players it seems Ince and Bony are signing with Cardiff and Swansea respectively so im not sure what striker they are looking for but it looks like they have placed a 18mil bid for Aubameyang which was rejected but we are still in talks this shows that we are finally actually trying to get players this summer
GeordieMark 0
Just put this in the Bony thread, but GetFootballNewsFrance on Twitter has just said we are to bid 29m Euros for Kurt Zouma and Pierre Emerick Aubameyang. 13m and 16m respectively. Too good to be true I think.

PaddockLad 16991
Much rather have Sissoko and Cabaye in the middle. What does he bring to the middle then?...please, I've asked this question 3 times and no ones given me a fuckin answer. Would he be a Davey Mac, a Gazza, a Brian Robson, a Frank Lampard, a Steven Gerrard, a Michael Carrick, a Glenn Hoddle, a Peter Reid or someone other fucker? Someone for fucks sakes tell me as I cant see the point of playing someone with his pace and power further back up the pitch. For me thats fuckin pointless. Answer please with evidence. If not, this "Sissoko is much better as a centre midfileder" is just bollocks, something fashionable to say on a football forum which nobody has even thought about or can actually back up. I posted a youtube clip of his time in France but it doesnt really help to show whether he'd be great or hopeless. Where does this come from?????????????????? PaddockLad 16991
Whats wrong with someone who has pace and power playing in the middle? Ramires is quality for chelsea there , Essien before he ruined his knee, Vierra who Sissoko is a lot like plenty of powerhouse centre mids in his kind of mould tbh Diaby had a good run there for arsenal as well but plagued with injuries. I think people have seen him bursting past people last season because he had no other options at the time and thought "fucking hell he needs to be further forward" , but really if we had of been on form he'd have had people ahead of him with defenders backtracking and been able to drive from deep with options either side, or arriving late into the box when balls came in/back out Its not form, its other players who are used to playing on the counter he needs. But we dont buy players to suit a system, we buy good players who are cheap, and only because theyre cheap. Then we expect someone as limited as Pardew to get the best out of them. Youve described 3 or 4 different types of player there which doesnt really help. For me he hasnt got a defensive bone in his body so comparing him with players willing to put a defensive shift in is pointless tbh. He doesnt have that side to his game iyam. Hes not a Viera or a Diaby. He's what we called and inside forward when I were a lad and now we call them attacking midfielders. I think Pardew got him right last season. Shame he ddint have the runners to break with him.

PaddockLad 16991
he's never an inside forward, robhino and the likes of that are that style of player, Reyes etc, he's not Well he doesnt look or play like them no. But its essentially the same job hes there to do if last season is anything to go by, get past his marker and get the ball into the central strker/a supporting runner. Sissoko is much closer to Vieira or his ilk than he is a forward. I think people saw him tear past Ashley cole and thought "Well he's quick so he should be on the wing". He's much better in the centre. Personally I'd play him and Cabaye and Tiote in the center, two wing backs, an attacking midfielder who has license to roam and two forwards. But we'll never see that. So let me get this right, he's better in a position you've never seen him in?... He mostly played on the right channel of a 3 man forward line last season, or in behind Cisse, depending on who else was available I haven't suggested that he did or should play on the wing. The width in a 433 or 4231 is, I've always thought, supposed to be supplied by an overlapping fullback. Viera and his ilk had defensive responsibilities that we don't know Sissoko possesses because hes not played there for us. Am not suggesting he couldn't do it very well, but why not try to make the most of his natural gifts? All he needs is support.... I see us playing more a 433 next season and getting more from Debuchy and Santon from fullback. --------------------Krul Debuchy, Taylor, Coloccini, Santon. -----Cabaye---Tiote---Sissoko. Ben Arfa, Cisse, Aubabeyang Elliott, M'Biwa, Haidara, Anita, Jonas, Gouffran and another striker.

I love the 4-2-3-1 lineup but i believe we need a true #10 to implement it perfectly. Even though i think Cabaye could be that for us he prefers to come from further back. EDIT i would start M'Biwa over Taylor Edited June 28, 2013 by santiagomn8

So you mean because Pardew played him out of position, that's now his position? I look at a player whose natural gifts are pace, power, passing, vision and poise... Attributes I'd want in a central box-to-box midfielder.I don't think you need a player like him to necessarily be strong in the tackle, just busy and positionally savvy, and he certainly is that. He's more box-to-box than anything. He's certainly not a clinical enough finisher to be played in the position you're describing and I'd much rather seen HBA or Gouffran (or hopefully Aubemeyang) there. I often scope out transfer targets on TransferMarkt.co.uk and they definitely suggest he's a central midfielder, http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/en/moussa-sissoko/profil/spieler_46001.html as does Wikipedia, as did the reports of him before he joined. Wiki described him as a box to box defensive midfielder Hes not though, he'll end up trying to do too much on the pitch like Gerrard and Lampard if he's told to do play like that. Guus Hiddink said Lampard was always trying to do too much, and he also praised our performances against his Anzhi side last season. If we're playing 4231 hes not one of the 2, hes one of the 3 iyam. While we've got the current players and Pardew as manager thats how we'll go. Would you suggest that him and Cabaye swap around then? Not for me. I ignored it because I had stated why I think it didnt quite work for him in that posistion last season, which you had ignored by jumping straight in with your question What does your question this morning mean?... I was asking where this theory comes from that he should play further back on the pitch comes from. Your question isnt the same, its a little difficult to understand, well for me anyway...
