Mike Ashley -- Irrelevant Cunt

That they're paupers who've been modestly spending for years and years, and now because of the money floating around in the league they can drawf the record transfer fee of a club the size of ours. That perspective.

But Everton are just reinvesting the money the got from the Fellaini/Anichebe/Jelavic sales...When we do the same it's something to show how little ambition we have. When Everton do it things are put into perspective, showing us how ambitious they are? Lol.

"They can dwarf the record transfer fee of a club the size of ours". They spent 28 million on one player. We've spent about the same on several different players. You don't realise that 28 million on one player is the same amount of money as 28 million of 5 players? We could've dwarfed our record transfer fee on 1 player instead of 5. But we don't because Ashley doesn't pay ridiculously overpriced fees for at the most, good players. If Everton now go on to spend millions more on other players, come back to me. So far they've spennt the same amount of money and got Lukaku as opposed to de Jong, Riviere, Cabella, Janmaat and Ayoze. Well done? Is that some sort of achievement?

This has to be true. There are tiny clubs throwing serious money around these days ffs. Fulham spent £11m on a single player and they just got relegated.

We can definitely afford to put more money out there, but I suppose it's only fair to judge at the end of the window. Certainly makes sense for the club to play their cards close to their chest.

They spent loads of money last year then sold Fellaini and had a negative net spend.

I would wait until the end of the window and see who goes out before judging the situation.

They turned down huge sums for their 28 going on 29 full back though, when they could have sold up like us and bought a younger one for much less.

Did they not turn down about £30m for both him and Fellaini? Given what they managed to sell the latter for, that would not have been a good deal for Baines.

Mike Ashley has really scraped the barrel with his treatment of the football press, and by association, the fans.

Supporters rely on their regular newspaper for coverage of the team and the club, with the only above board way this can happen being free access for all.

However, already we have seen the Newcastle United owner actively seek out media partners who will pay for the extra coverage, over and above what the overall Premier League deals contractually make them do.

Today United defeated Real Sociedad by a single goal with Moussa Sissoko in the last minute.

However, today saw Mike Ashley go to the extraordinary lengths of banning Alan Pardew and his players from talking after the match to the press pack after the match.

The journalists who were banned from access to manager/players, understandably making their feelings known via social media.

Aye, what's the big deal? Are you also crying about look north or Tyne tees not being able to cover the match live.

Local press are shite anyway and too interested in following the Twitter mood rather than doing their own thing.

Fuck them.

I mean obviously you're just being a contrary bellend, but as one of the board's biggest consumers of dreadful newspaper content about the club, I'm surprised by the reaction.

I recognise that it's the wrong thing to do, but have no interest in interviews with the players or manager so it won't impact me too much.

What about people this is impacting like George Caulkin?

I can't say this bothers me much at all. In fact not hearing Pardew spout his shite is something of a bonus.

It does seem like a pr own goal to get the press against you but compared to a lot of what the fat cunt has done this seems pretty insignificant.

I can see the club's point in this, the television and radio press pay for the right to broadcast games so why not try and open a new revenue stream by charging for access to the players and staff?

On the other hand I reckon the Sun have created a rod for their own back by agreeing to such a system and basically encouraging other clubs to do the same.

How much are we likely to be receiving for such a deal? Ultimately it's likely to be very little in the grand scheme of things so is it worth the hassle?

People bleat all the time about revenue bla bla bla. So here's the club trying to increase it by striking up some deals. What's the problem?

We sell the rights to TV and radio, why not print?

These print lads still get into premier matches free and get into post league match pressers free.

Can't see the problem at all. Most of the stuff they write about is old news, drivel or what they've read on forums or Twitter.

Caulking now and again knocks an interesting story together, but that's it.

So whats the plan for the season? Don't clubs get fined for not meeting the press after matches as its part of the leagues various media coverage deals?
