David Kelly 1219
I'm going to sound like a knob here, but I played keeper to a quite decent level. Krul is easily our best keeper, watching football generally and watching keepers is very different. He needs to stay or be replaced.I played keeper to a fairly average level and you're right he's our best keeper. But I would say that Eliott and Darlow covered for him really well in the premier league so I'd have no worries about them in the championship. I think we can aford to sell him and reinvest the money in other positions where we're more in need currently.
strawb 4172
We don't need the money from selling him. Why sell him, then have to replace him if we go up? Good goalkeepers are pretty hard to find

Good goalkeepers are pretty hard to find I don't think he wants to be here long term anyway. He might feel like he wants to hang around and get us back up (he may also just want to wait until he's fully fit and his contract is nearly up) but I don't think he's wanting to stay longer than that. We'd end up losing him for nothing when we could have got something for him now. I also think that while he is our best keeper, his performance levels have dropped the last couple of seasons. And I don't think we would need to sign a better keeper than the others immediately if we got up.
Alex 34774
It's symptomatic of the atmosphere that pervaded the club for far too long but hopefully that might change now.

Think a lot of that is down to the coaching and Woodman in particular, who ironically he'll rejoin if he moves to Palace.
David Kelly 1219
Aye both of you could be right there. Sometimes though players just need to move on. He's been here ten years now, you couldn't blame him for fancying a change.

trooper 940
Just reading West Ham are the latest club to be sniffing round for Perez (£15 million) with young Armstrong proving he can score goals will they cash in on Perez? I say let him go more money in the pot for Rafa to rebuild.

trooper 940
West Ham, Everton, & Inter Milan have said they're interested could £15 million be the starting point for a bidding war? Leading us towards the stupid money.
Howay 12496
I think he'll stay, he came out saying he wanted to stay a few week back (before Rafa had committed iirc) along with Mitro and Rafa has full control over who goes in his contract. Normally I'd not put any stock into Ashley being against breaking a clause but it's quite clear he's desperate to keep Rafa for now. 15m isn't worth it, keeping a lad like Perez really helps us with the promotion push as it'd be tough to get a player of his level in the Championship. trooper 940
I don't want him to leave but you know yourselves if the stupid money starts being offered it could be the first test of Ashley & Rafa's relationship
StoneColdStephenIreland 74
Tbh I think West Ham's owners just declare interest in everyone to keep their names in the papers and Sky Sports as it helps feed their egos.

trooper 940
Rafa I have been asked about players wanting to leave. But I have had more players telling me they want to stay. That is positive. So we will deal with them and the main thing is we need players with passion, commitment and quality to make a difference in the Championship. Agree with this, bids all over they'll spend really big this year already had bids rejected for Ritchie and Wilson
Howay 12496
I don't want him to leave but you know yourselves if the stupid money starts being offered it could be the first test of Ashley & Rafa's relationship I wouldn't worry about any test for that relationship, Ashley has signed full control over to Rafa on that issue and if he breaks it Benitez will walk. There's no way Ashley is going to break his word until we're at least back in the Premier League. I don't see a team going over 15-20m (probably not even that high) for Perez, getting back to the PL means 100m+ so there's no chance of Ashley risking that to cash in for 13-18m profit on a player that would fetch a similar fee in a year. trooper 940
Mitrovic: "I am very happy in England but it is always good when you see your name linked to a club like Sporting." It's going to be like this all summer hopefully Rafa will tell them to sod off unless they want to be away. We don't want anyone who's not fully committed. McFaul 35
I would be far from emotional if we sold Krul personally.
Kid Dynamite 6985
Same. Went off him when he practically high fived Defoe for scoring against him
Tom 14011
I wouldn't be bothered, we've plenty in that department with Elliot, a proven championship 'keeper in Darlow & a great prospect in Woodman. I think Andy Woodman was very detrimental to Krul's performances and Smith could get better out of him but Krul will probably want better than championship. I'd wish him all the best but won't lose any sleep - especially if he goes to Palace.
Gemmill 44245
I saw Krul in the airport bogs recently. It was an unscheduled rendezvous. His hair is fucking brutal in person. He had the gall to actually check it in the mirror before leaving the toilets.
