south_cheshire_toon 0
Just been speaking to a collegue, who went to the Crewe Alex Vs. Coventry game earlier in the week. Stated that the on loan from Newcastle player Brad Inman looked 'out of this world' and scored what he called a 'cracker' of a goal. In a nut shell - his first was a run similiar to HBA's against WBA last season, but instead of rolling it in, he wholloped it in from the edge of the area. Is he one for the future or not on Pardew's radar ?
The Fish 10965
I've heard mixed reports about this lad, but I'd wager he's not going to make it for Newcastle.
David Kelly 1260
He's 21 now and this is the first time he's ever played competitive senior football. This after he was being tipped for greatness about three year ago. At 21 if he's never even managed a run out in a friendly for us I would have to seriously doubt that he will ever make it as a premiership player. Either we've criminally mismanaged his progression by not letting him go out earlier or he was never going to be good enough before and he's now just about found his level (looks like he's doing well at league 1 so maybe he'll be able to do it a championship level). Doubt we'll ever see him in a black and white shirt though.
Holden McGroin 6783
Aye. The fact that we bought a younger centre midfielder (Bigi) who is ahead of him in the pecking order says it all. He would have broken through by now.

David Kelly 1260
Yeah Biggy is much more defensive but I still say if he's not broken though by now he's not going to.

Monroe Transfer 0
No it doesn't. They both play in completely different roles. Plus Bigi benefitted from a season's worth of experience in a lower league. Whether these boys will make it at the club remains to be seen, but I wish more were sent on loan like Inman. Tooj 17
Never seen him play, whats his best position?... He's an attacking midfielder and best played in the role that Sissoko did on Saturday.
Phil 6
With Vuckic ahead of him, the chances will be limited. But you can't write off a 21 year old as too old... especially when he's got 6 goals in 12 games from midfield for Crewe - which makes him the second top scorer in league one! Kitman 2207
I'm wondering if Vuckic has much of a future with us. He's done fuck all except get injured iirc....

He's still only young, but yeah he's not grabbing his chances when they do come along.

I think his injuries explain why he's not made much headway into the first team

It win / win for me - as if he leaves for more first team football they we'll (Crewe) would defo have him, problem is we only pay small wages so as he scores he's putting himself in the shop window as they say. I'd expect a summer move to a championship team - just to keep the regular first teamers on their toes, but you never know (fingers crossed). Tooj 17
Hope we can look at loaning some of our youngsters out at a younger age than Inman is. Even if it's just the odd month or so at Gateshead to give them a taste of things. We should also look at building relationships with local teams like Hartlepool to send our kids too. Kitman 2207
I agree with Tooj. Hanging about in the reserves certainly doesn't seem to do our youngsters any good. Perhaps we should send 'em up to that Scottish club we're supposed to be linked with
TheTaffer 0
Why is it so hard to send players out on loan to championship clubs? I would have thought most teams would love to bring in sammy for 3 months
David Kelly 1260
You would certainly think it would be in our interests to send Adam Campbell and Remmi Streete out on loan. They have both been in the first team squad when we've been short and seemingly highly rated. Even time up in Scotland would benefit them.
toon_don 0
This is something that clubs like Arsenal do really well that we need to start doing. They always seem to have loads of players on lloan all over the place. We just seem to generate and endless stream of players who play for the reserves for a few years then disappear. Happy Face 29
Probably difficult because Championship clubs would rather loan Arsenal and Man U youngsters than from Newcastle.
toon_don 0
I agree with that, but they send their players all over the place. Just this season they've had reserve players out getting experience at Colchester, Oxford, Crewe, Barnet, Inverness and Coventry., as well as Championship clubs. Playing proper competitive football is the only way youngsters are going to learn.
Barney 0
I wonder if David Edgar would have been better off getting out on loan early on as opposed to just sitting on our bench every week. Campbell and Streete are young enough that just training with the 1st team will benefit them for now. They and Ferguson, SAmeobi, Tavernier and Vuckic need to get out on a couple of short term loans next season.

That's what we've done with players for years and it's not got us anywhere. Surely if they're good enough to be on the bench for us then they are good enough to play at a lower level. Inman and Newton have never been that far up our pecking order but they are out on loan now. Our biggest successes from the academy in recent memory are Carroll and Taylor and they both went out on loan for experience in their teens.
