Need another striker if you ask me, a proper established one with a good goals record.

Easier said than done.

It does all seem to be very reliant on Cisse finding his form again but the new signings should help him out with that.

Going to get stick for this - and I'm repeating myself here - but if Thauvin and Sissoko are the end of our dealings, I'll view this window as a semi-failure. Reason being exactly what Gloom just said above. I'm sure Gouffran will prove to be a shrewd purchase but we need another goalscorer to properly replace Ba and take the burden off Cisse. If Cisse and Gouffran struggle for goals, where will they come from?

End of the day we sold Ba, Best and Lovenkrands and have replaced just one of those so far (Lovenkrands with Gouffran I'd say). We've seriously reinforced the rest of the squad already without adding Sissoko on top (he sounds like just the player we need in the centre of the park), but haven't replaced our leading scorer. This Ricky van Wolfswinkel sounds spot on - although Sky Sports reckon Norwich (!) are interested in him now.

Sure the money is thee factor, but I still bet Loic Remy wishes he was here now.

He's gonna feel like an idiot next year when we're challenging the top 6 and QPR are floating in between mid-table mediocrity and the relegation zone.

And that's if they don't get relegated this season...

Very happy with our dealings. The squad is MUCH stronger for it. Real quality added in key areas.

Of course we still lack another key striker and i'd love to see us get RVW or alike before the window closes. I however think we will wait until the summer when more players become available. Makes sense but is a gamble for sure.

Lets hope Cisse finds his form again, Gouffran contributes early, Cabaye thrives in an advanced role and Ben Arfa comes back shit hot.

Another striker still obviously required. The signings thus far look to have all been astute, taking advantage of contracts nearing their end. Given we're signing them on lengthy contracts there's very little risk of losing anything more than their wages if any of them don't prove of value. To type for Ashley with hopefully the same effectiveness that Carr has shown in his recent dealings.

I've said it elsewhere that none of these signings could be seen as the replacement for Ba that Loic Remy was so obviously intended to be. At this stage we're still left hoping that there is an adequate plan B with just a week remaining in the window. Ashley has felt first hand the effects of relegation and has shown that he's perhaps at least learnt something from the past and is now willing to take measures to minimise the chance of another drop. I hope that this will extend to the possibiliy of conducting a piece of business that isn't fitting with his normal modus operandi.
