May is fucking bonkers. The deal Tusk wants to offer is flexible so that if she can get this WA through, we can leave whenever. But she is deliberately putting pressure on herself. I know this is probably a sop to the ERG but still. Its like when the government were desperate to get the ECJ to find against us having the unilateral right to revoke A50. Trying to take our own options of the table ffs. Ironically our best leverage now.  It seems that the likes of Rees Mogg and the other Brexit psychos issuing warnings to disrupt everything has indeed rattled the EU. And as I've said a few times now, why we need to leave imo. I just want the softest terms possible. Fuck knows where this is heading though. Renton 21614
So 6 months flexible with conditions. Honestly sounds like a prison sentence. Embarassing. In 6 months time, what then?

Rayvin 5219
If PV2 became clear, we'd get the extension until March 2020. That sounds like the final date anyway - October is better expressed as the date by which No Deal occurs if we still haven't got any semblance of a plan. We're contesting the Euro elections. That's a big deal for the Tories. It's going to be incredibly important for us to vote for Remain candidates in that. ewerk 30598
Do European elections have much impact on party funding? Not the campaigns as such but the funding you get from winning a seat.

It's a perfect chance since it doesn't harm them domestically but does send a very clear message.  What we are going to need to accomplish this, however, is some manner of figurehead for Remain. Not Vince Cable.
Meenzer 15524
There's nothing wrong with running your country on the basis of referendums, Switzerland does it and they're all right... wait what? Â Â Â

Rayvin 5219
It's interesting that Francois is now the main poster boy of Hard Brexit. JRM a busted flush due to his late support for May's deal? Potentially good news for us anyway - while Francois and his ilk are getting all of this attention, they're not going to back down from their positions, this making May's deal impossible unless Corbyn enables it. And you'd have to hope he isn't stupid enough to do that without PV2.
NJS 4378
I have a feeling October was chosen to make it extremely difficult for time for a second ref.

Gemmill 44853
Tusk basically conceded that we could probably extend again in October. Realistically if we told them in June that the only way out was a referendum, they'd give us the time. Ditto a general election.  The October thing was entirely down to Macron being a little cunt. It would have been December or March if not for him.
Rayvin 5219
Yeah Macron was playing a weird game last night but ultimately it doesn't matter much. If we're going to get this referendum it's going to happen quickly.  We need to be absolutely insufferable about it now Edited April 11, 2019 by Rayvin
Gemmill 44853
Ian Dunt has written an article saying that the idea we need to hold the referendum by October is wrong. We just need to agree to hold one and set the ball in motion. That'll be enough.
