ewerk 30598
I’m pretty sure the Tory plan for the end date for the backstop is going to coincide with the next general election and the very moment that DUP are no longer useful to the Tories.
PaddockLad 17252
Well this has cheered me up this morning.. The Brexit fanatics go for broke. This is their chance of counter-revolution https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2018/oct/13/brexit-fanatics-no-compromise-go-for-broke-chaos-counter-revolution?CMP=Share_AndroidApp_Copy_to_clipboard
Renton 21615
So, as predicted by most on here, it looks like the DUP are go8ng to steer us into a no deal Brexit and a hard border in Ireland. Well played all you Brexiters, well played.
ewerk 30598
I’m not sure that no deal is inevitable. May might gamble on getting enough Labour MPs on side to pass her deal. The problem is can the DUP bring down the government before that? I can’t see any way of doing this without an election or a referendum.

He was also (if you remember), pretty vocal within days of the December agreement, about how meaningless the backstop was. He has simply been played by May who seems to have run out of road. He’s been consistent in being absolutely useless and responsible for not making any significant progress during negotiations.

Remember, Davis thought that he would negotiate seperately with each country rather than the EU as a bloc. Thick as pigshit, we may as well as put CT in charge of negotiations. Christmas Tree 4725
And Labour could easily prevent a no deal if they stop playing politics.

Christmas Tree 4725
If May pulls this off then she will go down in history in a churchillian way. Personally I’ve been swayed more towards the Canada +++ but I’d settle for Mays compromise. She has indeed (from her perspective), tried to put together a version of Brexit to appease the the whole country.

It may piss off the ultra remainers, who lost (let’s not forget) and the ultra leavers who want WTO, but the vast majority would be happy with a chequers style arrangement.
