The Wollaston amendment doesn’t pass without Labour whips and even that would be no guarantee.

But, but they could have forced a pv at any time surely?

No one has ever said that on here though, have they?

It's a common view in the outside world (especially the fbpe crowd) - see the splitters and specifically Soubry the other day.

No one can say anything with certainty in politics at the moment but that chances are that if Corbyn had accepted the PV at conference and given it his full throated support then we’d be a damn sight closer to having a PV than we are now.

So forgive my ignorance, but is it not that by attaching a PV ammendment to this extension bill, there is a risk they will both fail? It needs to be an iterative process to maximise chances of success, as being shown this weeks where it has been stepwise.

I may be wrong like because I find the Westminster aspect of this baffling. Although if you vote for Wallaston, I guess that implies you would vote for the extension with the ammendment if it passed? Confused myself again.

Well, no. If the amendment passed then it would be nearly certain that the bill also passed providing there was nothing else too toxic attached to the bill.

Aye, I edited my thought process. ;)

Fosters shat her knickers by the sounds of it. May is a genius.

Makes little difference. Still far to many ERG’ers who will vote it down and no sign whatsoever of the Labour leavers showing up in any meaningful numbers.

It is playing with fire to suggest we can settle the defining question of our age, affecting every aspect of our lives, communities and the future of the planet, through a referendum that large numbers passionately believe is illegitimate.

Lisa Nandy there, talking about a second referendum. The lack of spine shown by some in Labour is scandalous.

Makes no sense either. The first referendum has already been proven to be illegitimate. And future of the planet? Is this some even more delusional belief about how important we are coming out?

I am sorry for my ignorance, but watching it in utter disbelief your parliamentary proceedings seem hilarious tbh. The way everything is handled and going on doesn’t fill me with any confidence you will ever find a sensible solution for your mess.
