Carve off NI, get on with Brexit then have a GE. I’d be happy.

Clearly not going to happen (but then who knows nowadays), but imagine if everybody is getting ready to vote in the no confidence vote and suddenly the doors of Westminster swing open and the 7 mps of sinn fein ride in on horseback. She wont lose the no confidence motion since the DUP are backing her. Only if the ERG bottle it. Over 100 rebels voted to oust her. It’s a secret ballot, so who knows? Their best bet is a vote of no confidence and installing a brexiteer to face Corbyn in the next election - May has already said she won’t run again. How can she lose a vote after a record-smashing defeat and still retain the confidence of the house? It doesn’t make any sense. But then, not much about British politics has made sense for a while. final point: if she survives the confidence vote, and the impasse still can’t be broken, further confidence votes can be tabled. ewerk 30616
It's an option for sure but would require a lot of support from Labour to get through. Might also see the Tories lose the DUP's support. But basically no one has a clue what happens yet. The EU is unlikely to re-open this deal unless it's to change the breadth of the backstop or the UK shows it has the parliamentary support for a much softer exit.
