In other news, sounds like the divorce bill is now agreed.

If true, it'll be interesting to see if they can come up with a bespokesy customs unionsy in principle on the NI border to move things along. I suspect not.

50 billion euros though. I don't remember that on the side of a bus.

If my sums are right that nearly three and a half year's payments. And we’re getting fuck all in return. In what world does that make any sense?

Nearer 5 years looking at net payments.

And we're not getting fuck all. We're getting a lot less than fuck all.

And when I say literally it obviously isn't literally. Not even close.

Well, this is literally going to cost the country billions of pounds. Perhaps trillions in the long term.

It is outrageous that fully comprehensive impact documents have not been done on such an important issue, that the process wasn't transparent, and fully published. It's indefensible, how can any of the Brexiters even defend it.

I work for the NHS as part of a decision making body, making decisions with potential impacts of millions of pounds, not billions (and nearly always geared to saving). Everything I do is published and subject to scrutiny. That's how its supposed to work in the public sector. But this government is committed to complete obfuscation, white washing, and blatantly ignoring experts because we've had enough of them. They've given up on evidence based policy, and consequently we are fucked.

Should have been done properly before the vote - another thing Cameron should be shot for.

Before even the referendum was considered.

Once the referendum was underway, everything negative was project fear and experts were traitors.

It wouldn't have made a blind bit of difference to the outcome of the vote though.

It may have swayed things a bit of properly published and publicised. Wouldn't take much. But then, once project fear took hold, you're probably right. There were global assessments released by the treasury which were ignored.

This is one of the most depressing things for me about this country. Brexit is bad enough, but it's a symptom (albeit a potentially lethal one). It's just the confirmation of the rank stupidity of the population, perfectly encapsulated by CT. And when more depressing, the sense of exceptionalism which I had previously thought was a US phenomenon. And yes, the latent racism, which is becoming clear now over the Ireland issue.

Eight months of 'negotiating' and grandstanding before we gave the EU one of the three things they had initially asked for. David Davis could go into DFS and pay full price for a sofa.

And a tenner extra for a spray can of fabric protector.

we could have made some actual progress on the important stuff if we'd just agreed to pay what we owed from the outset instead of all these months of davis waving his willy

Nope. NI won't change unless we stay in CU and/or SM.
