Tubs wants a CU deal similar to Turkey's deal?

It's absolutely shit, the worst of all worlds. What a fucking aspiration.

CT, it's as if you don't understand what a customs union is. Being in one stops us making our own deals with third countries. Oh, and it wouldn't circumvent the need for a border in Ireland. You are a bone fide idiot. :icon_lol:

No I don’t want Turkeys deal and you clearly don’t understand

I’m not sure what else to say. This is the solution and what the UK is after.

It's difficult to know how to respond to such stupid.

You don't know what a customs union is.

On one hand, fair enough, most people don't. But then on the other, most people don't advertise their ignorance on a message board.

Im not sure what you are failing to grasp

We are currently in one form of the customs union with the EU.

Turkey is in a BESPOKE customs union with the EU. It’s different to ours.

We want a different bespoke customs union that keeps as much as what we have but allows us to carry out our own 3rd party FTA’s.

:)

You realise that the two aren’t compatible?

Jesus wept. Listen to Ewerk, or even partake in the most elementary research?

There is and can only be one customs union, strangely enough that would be the EU customs union. Turkey don't have a special arrangement other than they are exempted from agriculture. They are otherwise completely hamstrung by all the regulations but none of the benefits of the EEA which they desperately want.

Now, just let's say we are allowed to ipt out of certain sectors, something the EU has always insisted it won't allow. What sectors would they be? And how would that circumvent the need for an NI border? Also how does that prevent ECJ involvement?

The ONLY way to prevent a border in Ireland is to be fully in the EEA and CU. I even provided you a link to you explaining why even a completely comprehensive FTA and perfect harmonisation isn't enough. Do the decent thing, read it and educate yourself tubs.

Ofcourse they are. Why else do you think the UK government are trying to negotiate one?

At this point you surely have to admit that you don’t have a clue what you’re talking about?

Theres literally no point arguing over this. All I am doing is relaying the long standing position of the UK government

You shouting it won’t work doesn’t make me stupid for quoting the governments position.

You are 100% confident it can’t be done, the government is not.

So quoting the UK governments negotiating position is thick?

Ok

You've quoted fuck all. You've mentioned some bespokesy customs unionsy gubbins. Mind, the government is so clueless that might actually be a direct quote?

This would be funny until you remember this idiot was allowed to vote in the most important issue since ww2.

Somewhat lost in the public's joy at the news of the royal wedding was the news the David Davis is not giving the Brexit select committee the full Brexit impact studies. They've been edited to remove any commercially sensitive information and anything that might 'undermine' his negotiating position.

Thank god we've restored our parliamentary sovereignty.

Turkey are not EU members and don’t commit to four freedoms so no.

The deal Turkey have isn't what the UK would want (or need), it's shit compared to the deal we already have and their economy bears little resemblance to ours, so the 'bespokey' deal we want is nothing like the one currently Turkey have. I realise you'd probably have countered with "That's why it's bespokey", thinking that provides some insight into anything other than your lack of intellect, so I've saved you the bother there.

So naive to think everything is going to work out fine.

Humpty Dumpty has now downgraded his 'cracking deal' more times than the government has had to downgrade their predicted growth figures.

I think this is all a bit of a storm in a tea cup. On the one hand I feel that it’s not in the UK’s interest to reveal commercially sensitive information about certain sectors. Why give the people across the table any extra help.

But secondly, most business sectors probably have a better handle on how it may effect them than the government. IE; the very many public reports on the financial sector.
