Tom 14013
Not sure how or why, but I completely forgot about Ben Arfa. :/ Probably because he's injured.
OTF 7331
Pleased with this signing too although I hope he's a squad player (would be in a well-run club) rather than the Ba replacement. From everything we've heard positionally and characteristically he's not very similar to Ba, excepting that (in recent times for Gouffran) they both seem to know how to put the ball in the back of the net. Bonamental 0
Wiki has a great bit of hacking on him, saying he's allergic to grass. For some perverse reason I really wanted that to be genuine! Glad to be signing someone up front as we are so short, but don't really know enough about him to get excited yet, and I echo the hope its not the only striker coming in. KeithJ 0
I spoke to a guy in work who is in our Paris office. He asked me what team I supported. So I asked him about the players... Mbiwa he said was a good player. He stopped short of saying amazing. Sissoko he couldn't praise him high enough. Said he was amazing and Newcastle will have a right gem on their hands. Gouffran he said was am average player. Not amazing and not exactly popular in France. I also spoke to him about Barton. The French love Joey Barton. See him as a bit of a midfield boss man. I asked him if he has known about his off the field problems and then started telling him haha!
Monroe Transfer 0
Wiki has a great bit of hacking on him, saying he's allergic to grass. For some perverse reason I really wanted that to be genuine! It's not hacking, it's got a source: http://www.smh.com.a...1019-16rap.html Read a few articles about Gouffran tonight and they all seem to be saying he isn't the Ba replacement. I imagine we'll confirm Haidara and Gouffran tomorrow and then Pardew will have all three in his usual Thursday press conference. There, we'll probably learn what his plans are in terms of further attacking options. He knows the maths - we sold Ba, Best and Lovenkrands and haven't replaced any of those yet (till Gouffran is confirmed at least). Ranger and Xisco aren't good enough, Campbell and Sammy are too young, and as much as Pardew admires Shola I'm sure he realises he should only ever be a sub. Aeris 0
Obertan is his best mate from Bordeaux apparently. We got Cabaye and Debuchy, all we need now is striker Wilfried Bony (who could be the perfect player to replace Ba) who also happens to be Tiote's best mate. http://blogs.bettor....-Report-a170671 http://www.nufc-forum.com/nufcforum/index.php?topic=48275.0 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yl40DOn6ffM Edited January 23, 2013 by Aeris

David Kelly 1254
Interesting to read the Journal's take on his signing. The way I read it is they're saying don't expect us to sign another higher profile striker as this is it!
