Drove me insane at the time. Aye I agree he had a couple of decent games, you could see there's some quality in there. That clearance against Spurs is one of the highlights of our season for me. With a season thats been going absolutely nowhere you'd think we'd use it at least to blood some of these players in.

Pardewed down to the bone, him and Ben Arfa have. Along with being made scapegoat. Instead we got freakin Gosling. :pullhair:

Jean Louis Tiraud: "He is an excellent player with one defect, he was bought very expensively by Newcastle and his salary is high. The problem with the idea of a loan, is most clubs wait until the 31st August, because they are still trying to sell the player."

Eugh.

Him and Williamson looked the best pairing last season then as soon as Colo came back in he was dropped for no reason.

Should be looking to buy a more physical centre half to play alongside him and build the defence around that pairing.

He also has pace which is something we've been lacking at the back for ages.

There's absolutely no way we should be weakening the squad any more than we have done. Debuchy should be the last one out of the door. We just can't afford to weaken it any more than we have done.

But we will anyway. All of our own choosing. The player isn't demanding a move, and another club hasn't exactly come in with an offer we can't refuse.

Unless we've got better targets lined up - and I desperately hope we do - I just don't see the point in doing this.

Daft decision, like already said it means yet another position we need to fill. We already needed a centre back anyway imo so now we need two, Colo doesn't have many seasons left and Taylor is poor, Williamson is okay but he should be back up and not a starter like he is now.

Been a question mark against his temperament all his career, known for making mistakes under pressure before he got here and a reputation for 'nervousness' which in French means being a but radge rather than shy. Don't think he has had a fair chance but from the club's perspective performed below the money paid and wages he was getting. Another business decision rather than football one. Disappointing.

Typically shit decision from our higher-ups. MYM has never really been given a chance and ended up out of position for most of last season. Just the fact that we were using him that way shows our lack of cover, and now we want to sell him...so we'll have even less cover. Brilliant.

9th first team player sold in the last 12 months. Only 3 confirmed back in so far. Even with Janmaat and Cabella we are still massively short. Revierre isn't a 20 goal a season striker either.

I think the club underestimates how much we need one big goalscorer. Cisse and Ba both had half seasons where they scored 15 ish. Remy nigh on 15 last season with Cabaye chipping in 7. These goals haven't been replaced yet

You would have thought by now with less than 4 weeks until the start of the season we would have the majority of signings sorted and be training together. We have our first friendly in a couple of days and we're still uncertain as to what team will turn out. There seems to be no forward thinking or planning at the club we chase players for 18 months sometimes we get them most times we dont. Statements are issued saying we have no interest in the cups or Europe it's hardly inviting for players to come and play here. A few of us thought this would be a shit or bust window I.e. the team needed a lot of investment. They've made token gesture signings at the moment with Krul & Sissoko's futures uncertain we could very well start the season a weaker side. On the plus side the club will have made a nice profit again 27 days and counting lads.

You do realise that the vast majority of the clubs in this league (and most top tiers) are in a pretty similar position, right? I don't know why you seem to imply that we're unique in not having a settled squad at this point in the pre-season. Especially during a World Cup summer. Look around. It's the same everywhere, if anything we've done no less business than any other club, and more than others in some.

What does "token gesture signings" even mean in this context? You think they've pulled these players names out of a hat? At what point do you give the club any form of credit for bringing certain players in? In the next few days we're almost certainly going to bring in a good £17m+ worth of talent in Janmaat and Cabella. Both players good enough to make their respective World Cup squads. Quite probable that we'll have those two and possibly another (Riviere?), on top of Perez, De Jong and Colback all in time to make the plane to New Zealand for our first pre-season tour. That's seven players in. Two out (Yanga-Mbiwa who will surely be replaced eventually, and Debuchy). Hardly suggests we're likely to have a significantly weakened squad come mid-August, does it?

How can you say there's no "forward thinking/planning" and in the same sentence point out how we follow players for months on end? Isn't that the very definition of planning? To have an eye on a player (like Cabella) and then sign him when the time is right? Yes we don't always get players over the line, but it's not easy for all but the very biggest/wealthiest clubs. We're a mid-table club who don't have the same incentives as better ones.

Has the fact that ridiculous amounts of transfer business happens in the last day (or two) of the transfer window escaped you?
