Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa

Benteke will test anyone at the minute so it would make no difference who we had playing. My biggest doubts about Mbiwa are when we're facing an aerial assault and I don't think Villa play that way so I see no reason to consider changing him.

Anyway, Taylor was a tit in the first game and he doesn't deserve to go straight back into the team!

That fucker scores goals from nothing though. Have to be careful of Weimann and Agbonlahor's pace too. I like what Lambert is doing at Villa.

Aye fair point. I think they'll not be playing on the counter attack (which is where we could get drybummed), but I think we'll play with a fairly deep line regardless. Pardew would be mental to do otherwise. Trouble is, I'm not sure we can press the midfield as I believe we need to, without having a the defense quite high. I suppose playing 5 across midfield would help, but then I'd be concerned that a goal shy Newcastle would struggle to create anything for the solitary striker (who's likely to be Cisse).

Taylor was also abysmal away to Villa in January. Plus for all the people that say Taylor is great in the air I can't really ever remember him dominating an opposition forward of Benteke's ilk.

I think that we could easily press their midfield but it's not something that Pardew gets his teams to do.

Who says that? To be honest I can't remember anyone saying one facet of his game is good, just that's he's an all right centre half.

He dominated Crouch at SJP last season. He's a bit of a joke these days though.

Thought Anita did a decent job of that Saturday

He's always been quite overrated by some on here.

Still think he could be decent if he cut out the dumbass antics.

Aye but thats been the case for most of his career and he hasn't learnt yet.

Fine with him as number 3 as it stands but he shouldn't be coming back into the side if Colo and MYM are fit

As were Debuchy and Santon. It was an all around good performance, apart from that corner. Is it just me or has Santon improved as a defender this season?

Mapou is class, that much was obvious from the start. Was worried Colo and him might get physically bullied by Benteke today but thankfully it didnt happen.
