Are aeroplanes, houses and clothes etc. 'natural' then? Do other species ponder the origins of the universe. Has any other species shaped and altered nature? Etc., etc. That's what I was getting at.

Says the right-wing religious gun nut.

Hold on, is Toonpack religious as well? Would make sense considering his pro-life comments the other day. To be a member of the republican party nowadays do you need the following full house:

- Pro guns.

- Pro 'life' (laughable considering the above).

- Climate change denier (or semi-denier in this case).

- Belief in a particular middle eastern tribal God.

And also, apparently, a fundamental belief that human nature is evil and that survival of the fittest is the ultimate truth. This would go some ways to explain contradictions like being christian whilst not believing in universal healthcare.

What a uniquely fucked up way of thinking.

Similar to wanting harsh treatment for criminals whilst arguing acting like a selfish cunt is natural.

I'm not quite sure why it's in the government's interest to play along with it though.

Yes, they make a few quid from 'green' taxes but if the UK turned around today and said that there's no such thing as global warming and they were repealing all pollution taxes and quotas then there'd be a flood of inward investment.

There's a reason that the US hasn't ratified the Kyoto Protocol.

Seems strange I agree. There's already a lot of data and concerns on the impact it will have on the viability of business (energy dependent) and jobs. On the other hand the think tanks (Soros and so on) point to the fact that re-tooling and new green products will offset the old economy. He even went as far as to say that it would replace the downturn in the american economy if it was played right.

It almost seems like there might be a divide in amongst the agendas of different arms of big business and Govt and others who stand to lose and some gain.

Although if this agenda serves some higher purporse, then national Govt is out of the game. But what?

nb Of course in recent history the financial markets (stock exchange and banking) has taken precedence over industry. If as Chez shows Goldman Sachs and so on are ready to go on it...Losing jobs in the UK isn't really gonna come into it.

The fact that Goldman have invested $40bn in green technologies is even more evidence that man made climate change is real. Aside from the image boost it provides, they wouldn't be plowing that sort of money into an industry built on a lie.

Real or not real they are planning to make money from it.

Things don't have to be real to be lucrative - tech boom, housing boom, various big house (investment banks) driven bubbles - credit and so on...None of those had any real longterm value for anybody (not us anyway - the public) and it ended up taking down the very banks that were making it all 'seem real'.

Climate change is real or can be made to look real (depends who you belive). For me there is enough data that points to the fact that there might be issues with the climate/weather, I just don't happen to believe it's man made. Goldman don't care either way, as it's looking like a goldmine to them.

And I'm not sure the key player is totally onboard: NY Times

"Though the evidence of climate change has, if anything, solidified, Mr. Obama now talks about “green jobs” mostly as a strategy for improving the economy, not the planet. He did not mention climate in his last State of the Union address. Meanwhile, the administration is fighting to exempt United States airlines from Europe’s new plan to charge them for CO2 emissions when they land on the continent. It also seems poised to approve a nearly 2,000-mile-long pipeline, from Canada down through the United States, that will carry a kind of oil. Extracting it will put relatively high levels of emissions into the atmosphere."

Steady Antarctic ice growth 'limits confidence in climate predictions'

Top NASA, Brit boffins probe baffling polar mystery

Boffins from NASA and the British Antarctic Survey have teamed up to investigate one of the great mysteries of climate science: why it is that the extent of sea ice around the south pole has actually increased steadily over the years.

As the scientists note in their new paper, while the increase is not as big as the decreases seen in Arctic sea ice, current climate models - the ones which predict dangerous levels of global warming this century if carbon emissions aren't drastically reined in - say it shouldn't be happening. This causes people to suspect that the models might be wrong, or as Paul Holland of the BAS and Ron Kwok of NASA put it, the Antarctic ice spread has the effect of "limiting confidence in [the models'] predictions".

We could get into an ice age and they would still go on about climate change.

You should never quote an article that uses the word "boffins"

Why do people who don't believe in climate change seem to point at snow and ice as empirical evidence that the climate isn't changing?

It's like Fox news hooting with glee when there is a snow storm, "See? Snow, how can the world's climate possibly be changing when there's snow?!"

Aye,

Evidence of climate change being used to argue "Global warming" is a myth. Idiots tbh.

As the press release states...

Antarctic sea ice cover has increased under the effects of climate change.

Didn't suit Parky's "narrative" though.

You do realise there is no proof apart from computer modelling (prigro) for global warming?

This is a new tax for the elite by stealth. Wake up slaves. ;)

Climate change is natural and had been going on for a billions years. How much carbon back tax is that for the EU, UN, World bank Nazi's? I expect a graph Nicos. A graph damn you!

Barring catastrophic events, natural climate change takes that long. But the report your drawing attention to finds...

The first direct evidence that marked changes to Antarctic sea ice drift have occurred over the last 20 years
