this is basically Pitchforks list right? give or take a few

When I saw that you'd posted I knew you'd be picking me up on that. Yes I dare say (not that I've looked lately) that there is a fair bit of that which would fit nicely into any Pitchfork list (although I think a fair few of the albums wouldn't be the one they'd pick for the that artist, New Porno's and Spoon immediately spring to mind) but they are the albums that I love and listen to the most. There's loads of other albums that you would probably appreciate more and no doubt a fair few that you would have on your list that I really like (in parts at least) but wouldn't listen to anywhere near as much as these. I'm certainly no hipster (whatever that is) but it's fair to say that a lot of what I listen to has been influenced by me finding Pitchfork about 8 years ago. Before then I was stuck listening to The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Doors, Dylan, Bowie, Pink Floyd, Oasis, Stone Roses over and over again. So while Pitchfork gets a lot of stick, for me personally it opened up a lot more music for me.

Mirrored Man! Wasn't on my list and probably my favourite album in 2 decades let alone that one :D

I really liked The Runners Four but never got into Offend Maggie or Friend Opportunity. Hadn't listened to it for ages, but had it on this morning by coincidence.

Every track on Mirrored is among the highest play count on my ipod.....there's only 2 from Gloss Drop that are gonna reach those heights. It's grown on me since release week, but never gonna be as good.

I got into Deerhoof off the back of Runners 4. Thought the 2 follow ups were offering me diminishing returns and didn't even get hold of Vs Evil. Is it worthwhile?

Bloody hell, forgot about The Streets' debut as well. Not listened to The Libertines' debut in years so no idea how it's held up.

There's a barely known album called "The Philosophy of Velocity" by a band called Brazil that I love as well.

It's a bit hit and miss, but I'd give it a listen if i were you. Have you ever seen Battles live? Saw them at Gateshead town hall last year. Not the best sound but a great gig nonetheless.

I was at that gig. Sat in the balcony with the other half who was miserable as sin. More a Take That kinda girl. Bless her for making the effort though. Saw them at Northumbria uni when they were touring Mirrored as well. That was excellent...I was slightly more inebriated for that and in like minded company though.
