I still love Second Coming, yet their debut was better I really do still enjoy the different way Second Coming went. Seemed to me more influenced by Squires whereas Brown was more the first one.

In no particular order.

The Sundays - Reading, Writing, Arithmetic

Chemical Brothers - Dig Your own hole

Happy Mondays - Pills & Thrills

Primal Scream - Screamadelica

Leftfield - Leftism

KLF - Chill Out

Underworld - Dub no bass

Portishead - Dummy

Massive Attack - Blue Lines

Daft Punk - Daft Punk

Chill Out! I spent the first half of the 90s living in a tent in the Ardeche, Chill Out was an ever present on my boom box

In fact most of that list would be on my list .... with Moon Safari, The Stone Roses ( 1989, I know !) Northern Soul and Urban Hymns, Adventures Beyond the Ultraworld.

I was also listening to a lot of Zappa , John Martyn, Miles Davis too though.

Ah, French smoke was superb

Two yank bands there Stevie - careful now.

Oops forgot Moby - three.

Moby was heavily entwined in British music, stuff like Go and Every Time You Touch Me (which reminds me of being in Circus Circus at 15 and 16 so much), I'd heard nowt like it to that point, he's proper versatile as well. REM and that particular album are just mint.

I also like Soundgarten's album with Black Hole Sun on, I forget what it's called had it years ago it was a belta. Music turned desperate in 2000s imo, even dance music turned shite about 2002 generally.

On a related note I read that Mellon Collie was the biggest selling double album of the decade which is impressive when you realise that includes Jacksons Bad.

Bravo, really excellent list.

I presume you mean Homework for Daft Punk. Couldn't wait for that album after some of the remixes they had been doing beforehand. Preferred Exit Planet Dust to Dig Your Own Hole though.

Superunknown, Spoonman was a class track too.

Anyway, in no particular order...

R.E.M. - Automatic for the People\New Adventures in Hi-Fi

Live - Throwing Copper

Belly - Star

Throwing Muses - University

Peter Gabriel - US

Grant Lee Buffalo - Mighty Joe Moon

Tori Amos - Boys for Pele

Slowdive - Souvlaki

Mojave 3 - Out of Tune

Loved a bit of Lush back in the day, but their albums were a bit patchy in places imo.

Mother Love Bones album was pretty brilliant too. Cloe Dancer/Crown of Thorns is such a tune.

Temple of the dog was better. Chris Cornell did a solo acoustic tour last year singing some songs off the album. He's got an awesome voice :D

Depends what you're in to and how hard you look. Some class albums of all kinds of stuff have come out in the last 10 or so years, there's just tons and tons of shit that dilutes it all down these days.
