Thats one of the ones I was having a look at earlier on the argos site.

The bush one overall seems pretty similar other than it has std Freeview and not HD freeview like the panasonic. The bush doesnt need a dongle, the Panasonic does. I only mention this in case the Bush fits your grannys requirements better.

My mistake, it was this one my Gran got. Difference being that this one is passive 3D and doesn't require a wireless dongle but it's 500 quid.

If I was you I'd always go for the Panasonic over the Bush. For the sake of needing a wireless dongle, I would imagine picture and sound would be a lot better on the Panasonic. I would also consider using home plugs rather than the WiFi anyway, particularly if you're streaming HD content.

Why have you never liked a plasma? Sure I read somewhere before that once you go above a certain size plasmas are the way to go.

Got put off them by a salesman tbh who said the crisper pictures were from Led / LCD. Said Plasma was best for movies.

As said though, size and price rule them out in this instance.

I'm sure he had no vested interest in steering you one way or the other.

Speaking of wifi dongles , does anyone have a Toshiba tv with one ?

Trying to find an alternative brand dongle to Toshiba's own rather expensive £50-60 solution .

Tenner brand new on Ebay if you have the right model :)

Unless they've moved on, I always understood this to be the case too. Cos the plasmas have a gel in them, they struggle with really quick moving pictures like sport, or if you watch a video of a river running where the picture is constantly changing all over the screen, the plasma struggles cos the gels can't react quick enough.

They have moved on from the early days and are considered best for movies and sports.

However whenever I see them side by side a LCD I still prefer that to the plasma.

So, forgive my ignorance, are dongles just a way of making your tv pick up your Wifi signal? You don't have to pay a monthly fee or anything once you've got the dongle? Are they slower at all than a tv that just has Wifi already built in?

Yup. Some tvs have the wifi built in some use a dongle. Don't know about speed difference but wouldn't have thought it would be great.

My wireless set up is 3 years old and streams fine.
