Memphis/Nashville and the like

Going next May (via Atlanta) for two weeks driving about, courtesy of sufficient airmiles and a rather brill BA offer.

Anyone been, any tips etc (I will be implementing avoidance of having to squeal like a piggy procedures as a matter of course).

Was in Nashville for 6 days or so in 2010 for a country music festival, so didn't necessarily get to see a great deal of the place beyond the main burn (other than a weird fake version of the Parthenon they have on the edge of town), but the city itself is well worth a few days of your time if you like bar-hopping and plenty of live music. Can fire restaurant/hotel recommendations your way if needed, nearer the time as the case may be.

We had a vague notion of getting across to Memphis for a day but it never happened.

Aye I've been. I liked Memphis, but found Nashville very odd. People genuinely square dancing in bars.

The food is great, Graceland is worth a look and you're "only" 6 hours drive from New Orleans if you wanted a night there.

Will try and have a think of other stuff we did/saw in Memphis.
