Gives you an idea of how the rest of the season is going to go doesnt it.

Still theres allways the possibillity of beating Leeds again.

Congratulations though to Alan Shearer on equalling Jackie Milburn`s league and cup record.

Terrible performance from all what I have heard, but isn't it typical of us to sink to the level of the oposition in competitons like this.

Sink to their level?

On evidence of our performances this season i would say we have found our level under Souness, certainly not a premiership side.

I've heard Luque was very poor, but set up the goal so he's getting closer - albeit he more stood on the ball than backheeled it...

If Shearer hadn't got his 200th goal/equalled Jackie's record, we'd be much less pleased.

Jesus wept

For what it's worth I thought Luque showed promise yesterday, although it's hard to judge when he's playing against a side like Mansfield, I suppose. I was pretty baffled hearing all the cliches on the radio coming back from the match - "he has no heart" etc....

He pulls out of challenges just like that Robert bloke - your new fave player no doubt.

Seriously though, I think he's looking better and he certainly looks like he's more suited to playing up front than on the wing. He's far from £10m worth on current showing, but it's gonna take a while for him to settle in, so we'll see.

Yup I try to be an honest person. Don't think this is a really important issue though. Just a backheel...

It was more the point that whatever Luque does now, a certain amount of fans are going to belittle him.

Just noticed the edit quote function then.

A comedian to boot!

Sorry, I just thought you were beating around the bush a little with that change of heart, and I'm a bit pissed off with the crap that Luque's getting.

Oh right, sorry... I realise I was being negative, but I am actually one for being patient with Luque. He's starting to show promise, and I think it's certainly best to keep him up front, than put Ameobi/Chopra there and drop him back to left-wing.

Liverpool fans were annoyed by Crouch initially, but they began to praise him, even before he scored and got their reward. Maybe not saying we should idolise Liverpool fans - but we should give him time.

Agree with all of that, especially the highlighted bit!

I reckon Luque will be a good player down the left for us once he's adapted (assuming he ever does), but should be allowed to get used to the English game up front.

It was piss poor tbf. Aye, fair play to Mansfield for having a go, but I for one wouldn't have complained if they'd sneaked it yesterday. Very poor performance that really has me worried now. Shearer's record deflects the shit off Souness anyway, if it had finished 0-0 then adfter that performance we'd surely be managerless this morning. It was twatful.

EDIT: Saturday even.
