I can think of three periods during my time supporting NUFC when we had a genuinely European Class first XI and had the ability to beat any team we played on our day.

Keegan 1995

Pav

Barton

Beresford

Albert

Gillespie

Batty

Lee

Ginola

Beardsley

Ferdinand

Shearer

Bobby 2002

Given

Bernard

Hughes

Dabizas

Dyer

Jenas

Solano

Robert

Speed

Bellamy

Shearer

Pardew 2012

Krul

Simpson

Santon

Taylor

Coloccini

Tiote

Jonas

Cabaye

Ben Arfa

Ba

Cisse

Which was the best?

I think potentially the current group can be the best.

Mix the three and what's your best team?

------------------------Krul

Beye---Woodgate---Coloccini---Bernard

-----------------Tiote-----Lee

Ben Arfa----------Ginola-------------Robert

---------------------Shearer

Beye wasnt in any of those teams and as good as Woodgate was we only got about 20 games from him

Who managed Beye at the toon?

As for Woodgate, regardless of how much we got out of him he is one of the best centre backs I've seen at the club.

Keegans.

The annoying thing is not long after these sides peaked they were destroyed by the next manger not tweaked to push on. Apart from Pardews ofc.

the sbr and keegan lineups don't look right, only three defenders in them for starters; they're more a list of the better players that appeared in those eras.

the keegan team was the best of my lifetime, the mot entertaining and the one that got closest to success.

whether that sort of team would do as well today is another question. football has changed a lot since then.

yeah, but you've asked people to compare the best players of those eras rather than the teams themselves, not including cloggers like peackock, howey, o'brien and bramble who played a lot in both sides.

not that it matters much. general consensus is keegan's was the best.
