Christmas Tree 4729
So my new sooper dooper router arrived from O2 today and its all connected etc. My question is, how long should a page take to load and is there any way to test whether its good, poor or whether its your PC thats slowing things down, Im not talking about download / upload speeds. If for example I type WWW.AA.COM into the browser and press enter, how long should I wait for the page to load? Instant, 1 second, 3 seconds. And how do you tell if its your PC, Browser or website etc.
Gemmill 44995
Surely that speed is a function of your download speed and the browser you're using (I'd recommend chrome btw). Google for testing page loading speeds or something.
ewerk 30677
Most ISPs advise you to give it a few days for your line to settle down before you'll see what your actual speeds will be like.

Google for testing page loading speeds or something. The run of the mill speed tests just say the usual.... 11mb download 1mb upload etc and when you google what you suggest its more related to testing your own web site. I appreciate a lot of the times it can be down to certain sites, but Im also aware pc related things can effect it. Just wanted to try and fine tune. Ive had the o2 line connection etc for years, just the router thats upgraded today. Guess Im wondering if others load pages (like the one I listed) instantaneously or what delay they have. ewerk 30677
Generally most pages should load up straight away. If you're experiencing delays a lot then it's more than likely your browser/computer.

Andrew 4774
I'm at work, considering what I do its not surprising. probably won't be quite that high at home.
Ruler of Planet Houston 1
473 on ff, mac but 350ish for chrome and safari aa.com took a couple of seconds. You could have the fastest download speed in the world but if the server serves up the websites slow it won't make any difference.
