Dr Gloom 21921
any sponsor's got to be better than the bloody awful sports direct signage that's plastered around the ground on every available space. it's just so tacky.
Toonpack 9400
I'm not doubting your right. What I'm doubting is the idea MA doesn't were the trousers at SD. Â In terms of strategy he absolutely wears the pants, but that's a hugely different thing to the run of the mill day to day business stuff of which sponsorship/marketing is a part. Â ours even makes the ricoh arena look classy ffs.
McFaul 35
We've told PUMA to do one as well. Hope it's adidas, but even NIKE or UMBRO would be better than PUMA.
2bias 3
Looks as though our recent good form has brought about some interested parties, being in Europe obviously helps too. Not fussed who it is as long as it brings in more £££.

Park Life 71
£10m was the figure including unspecified bonus payments was it not. The base figure was never published, unless somebody knows better? It could be £2.50 for all we know.  As always we have to wait for the annual report to get any hard facts, which leaves us two steps behind the truth all the time.  It was 7.5m (published in the Times) plus add ons. Toonpack 9400
Yes but Ashley owns Sondico  No "he" doesn't  SD also have a world exclusive relationship with Nike and a purpose built "Nike Academy"  http://www.independent.co.uk/news/business/analysis-and-features/life-with-mike-ashley-6264661.html Edited October 1, 2012 by Toonpack
Happy Face 29
The timing of the stadium renaming suggest otherwise. Unless you think Ashley woke up one morning last November and decided to change the name of the ground it seems obvious it was a long term objective and he waited until the going was good, rather than on the day we got relegated for example. Â I think he's maximised exposure for his brand regularly off the back of NUFC. Whether it's putting the club up for sale or taking it off the market or putting it up for sale again or taking it off the market again, putting a sign on the roof, putting a sign on the stand or changing the name of the stadium. All have been big news in the national press. Â Irrespective of how the league position might fluctuate, whatever Ashley does with Newcastle will have Sports Direct in the news, even if it's just a mention that he owns the company, the more intrinsically linked Sports Direct are to the move he makes, the more exposure his brand gets. Getting into Europe hasn't changed my view that this was a massive part of his motivation in buying the club and remains so. Â Ask anyone with a passing interest in Premier League football which company Mike Ashley owns, what percentage of them would be able to tell you? Far more than than would know which company Roman Abramovich owns, with Chelsea a far higher profile club.
