Can I propose a new topic area?

It's just a thought and all I'm doing is proposing a new topic area where topics that are controversial can be discussed with posters knowing what they are getting into.

I know it can be put under general topics but it seems some posters take an emotional view on certain subjects or they take a manic view on certain subjects which leads to controversy.

I just thought it might be a good idea if topics that are deemed more sensitive or more outlandish can be placed in a section where no one can complain about the said topic title being discussed if they know it's in a section where it's plain to see that it's a controversial topic.

I fully understand if you don't want to do this as I'm just one poster asking but I just think it would save a lot of bickering and such whenever something is discussed which doesn't suit all tastes.

It's more selfish on my part in asking though as I seem to discuss topics that seem to make people think I'm on the wind up and even though I'm not, people don't seem to accept that I've just got a different view to a lot of them, so I thought something like this can give myself and others a bit of scope to actually put up certain topics with the full knowledge of anyone looking that they join in for what it is, knowing that it can get a bit heated.

I might seem a bit forward in asking this as I haven't been on here that long but as the saying goes, 'shy kids get no sweets' and 'if you don't ask, you don't get.'

Just for the record, I'm happy either way and it's a simple request and nothing more than that.

Cheers.

So basically you want a Wolfys mental theories section?

Can we have a J69 pinball and motorbikes section while we are on

Nope, I'm not asking for my name on it, I'm simply asking for a controversial section where people can air their views on anything without running the gauntlet from posters who get upset , as every post will have someone who takes it to heart.

This way, those posters who would possibly take a topic to heart can avoid it or come into it, in the full knowledge of what they are coming in to.

You mean you want somewhere that will enable Sniffer to post his racist views so nobody would get upset over them?

I want somewhere where anyone can post their views so people know where they stand and if it upsets anyone for whatever reason, they simply know it's a controversial topic and so can't complain if they decide to take part.

That way, the Admin can also move a topic to the controversial section if they feel it's not warranted on the General section.

It's just a thought.

Why can't we have threads about all 3 subjects? Surely 'general' means everything?

Correct, General does mean everything but I've seen a lot of people whining over topics in the general section and sometimes topics get heated with posters getting upset in certain topics , so I just proposed to have anything controversial or what's deemed controversial to have it's own area with a basic 'enter at your own risk' or something like that, so anyone wishing to post on it, know what they are getting into and can't cry foul when things don't suit them.

Anyway it was just a suggestion.

If people don't like a thread then stay out. It really couldn't be simpler.

You would think so wouldn't you

I see no problem with starting any topic in general baring the usual common sense rules.

If you Google conspiracy theory forum you will find hundreds of places dedicated to that sort of stuff. And none of their members will get offended

This.

Instead of causing 'controversy' with certain thread topics, it'd make a lot more sense in my eyes to be posting with like-minded people in a dedicated forum, as opposed to a Newcastle United board where most of the members don't agree with what you have to say. I appreciate that it's a bit of hassle, a bit of a risk, and you'd have to integrate yourself into a new community, but still.

I feel the same about people on forums who seem to stick to mostly one thread - a golf thread for example - instead of posting on a dedicated golf forum with 1000s of members instead of the same 4-5 people talking about golf in this one thread.

I'm not suggesting you leave here, because the odd topic is worthy of dsicussion and you (Wolfy) also contribute towards football threads too.

I do post with like minded people in a dedicated forum but I'm also a Newcastle United fan, so naturally I have my thoughts on the team, plus many thoughts on different subjects, which granted aren't to everyone's tastes, just as many topics on here aren't to my taste, yet I put mine up just like anyone else to air my views and give people a chance to air theirs or simply read it as I know there's a lot of silent people out there that like to read but are shy of contributing for varying reasons.

I'm honestly not bothered either way if another topic area is created or not, I just proposed it because there's a lot of topics that are very controversial and not just by me, that some people take great offence to and some make a big song and dance about, which, if put in a section that stated it's controversial and libel to offend, then people know what they are walking into.

Some boards have a rant room or a fight room and such...obviously I'm not asking for that but I think you get my drift.

If on the general board an admin decided that my topic was becoming too controversial, then they could simply put it in the controversial section. Basically that's what I was getting at.

Like I said, it was only a token suggestion and nothing more than that really.

Topics generally only become 'controversial' once you add your batshit mental and deliberately obtuse contributions to them.

We will not be adding a whole new section to draw attention to this. Genuinely controversial subjects are adequately defined on a football forum under the 'General' heading.

Fair enough.
