snakehips 0
Another Liberal leader who calls a press conference once finding out the press are going to reveal all. Paddy Pantsdown did the same. Thorpe?? I have been told by one or two folk who live in his constituency that the wife is just a 'beard'.
Sicklee Sausage Roll 0
Another Liberal leader who calls a press conference once finding out the press are going to reveal all. I have been told by one or two folk who live in his constituency that the wife is just a 'beard'. 74856[/snapback] Being a young-un (relatively), I googled and found: The main feature of that personal life was simply that Thorpe was gay and liked a bit of a cruise on occasion. And that was it. Not very shocking really, is it? I'm sure we all know at least one senior member of the current government with the same tastes. Except that at the time when Thorpe became an MP, even when he became party leader, the practice of homosexuality was illegal. So he never came out. It was considered that were his proclivities to be widely known, it would ruin his reputation. And so, it was alleged, when a former lover, Norman Scott, seemed to be posing a potential threat by revealing their relationship publicly, Thorpe and those around him planned to murder Scott to silence him. In the event Scott wasn't killed, though his Great Dane named Rinka was shot dead. And Thorpe and three other men found themselves in the dock at the Old Bailey charged with conspiracy to murder. Has anyone seen 'A Fish called Wanda'? I wonder if they were taking the piss out of that. Edited January 5, 2006 by Sicklee Sausage Roll

We didn't win, unsurprisingly.
