trophyshy 7084
Is he literally just in the Ecuadorian Embassy on Facebook all day? It's all a bit pathetic this isn't it? I mean we've all accidentally infiltrated a sleeping girl once or twice haven't we? Can't he just hold his hands up, accept his slap on the wrist and get back to making Zumba videos? ChezGiven 0
Most of the women in Sweden who dare to report experiences of sexual assault to the police, despite the exposure that this brings, will find that the case is dropped because it is her word against his, and the other evidence is slight or non-existent. That is quite probably what would happen in this case, if Assange only dared come to Sweden for questioning. There is no reason to believe the fantastic conspiracy theories which say that the women's accusations are just a way to get at Assange. The press chief of the Swedish foreign ministry said on Thursday that the fear of Ecuador's foreign minister that Assange would be sent on to the US by the Swedes, and even be executed, are utterly groundless. Both Swedish law and Sweden's obligations under the European convention on human rights mean Assange could not be extradited to the US if he were wanted for a crime which might lead to the death penalty. There is a Swedish extradition treaty with the US, but the process of extradition is long and very complicated. So far there is not even a charge against Assange in the US, which would be the first step in the process. We don't even know that the American justice system wants to try Assange. Ironically enough, it would probably be easier for the Americans to get Assange from England, since the two countries are much closer to each other in many ways. But it's been a very long time since Assange did anything sensible.
Happy Face 29
Quite an error strewn opinion piece http://www.guardian....nds-left-sweden "Assange's flight from Sweden" he applied to stay in Sweden at the time and was knocked back by their authorities "Most of the women in Sweden who dare to report experiences of sexual assault to the police, despite the exposure that this brings, will find that the case is dropped because it is her word against his, and the other evidence is slight or non-existent. That is quite probably what would happen in this case, if Assange only dared come to Sweden for questioning. Why wouldn't Sweden give the guarantee that they wouldn't pass him over to the US, why can't they question him in the UK as has been offered? "Both Swedish law and Sweden's obligations under the European convention on human rights mean Assange could not be extradited to the US if he were wanted for a crime which might lead to the death penalty." He's not likely to be charged with any crime that carries the death penalty, what he has done is no more than what newspaper editors across most of the US do, which the US aren't likely to make a capital offence soon. They are however looking into every conceivable angle for getting him on something....as they are with Bradley Manning...while keeping him in detention for year upon year, without charge...against the law of the land. "There is a Swedish extradition treaty with the US, but the process of extradition is long and very complicated. So far there is not even a charge against Assange in the US, which would be the first step in the process. We don't even know that the American justice system wants to try Assange." It's widely know there is a case being built against Assange, confirmed again yesterday (mistakenly) by the state spokesperson.... MS. NULAND: Obviously we have our own legal case. I’m going to send you to Justice on what the exact status of that was. Okay? QUESTION: Okay. There is – so you’re saying that there is a legal case against him? MS. NULAND: I’m saying that the Justice Department was very much involved with broken U.S. law, et cetera, but I don’t have any specifics here on what their intention would have been vis-a-vis him. So I’m not going to wade into it any deeper than I already have, which was too far. http://www.state.gov...2/08/196589.htm

The 2+ years of pre-trial incarceration he's faced so far is par for the course. Torture? They didn't connect his nads to a car battery, they deprived him of a pillow and his skin was 'chafed' because of a rough blanket. Happy Face 29
I don't see any evidence there that anything classified was leaked to the film makers? In other words: military commanders have been lecturing everyone on the evils of talking about classified programs, so we can’t look like we’re violating that, so we’ll instead direct some lower-level planner whose name you can’t use to tell you everything those commanders would tell you. Also, note how the name of the SEAL planner who was to meet with the filmmakers has been blacked out in these documents, and the administration still refuses to reveal that name — but it’s perfectly OK to give that information to Hollywood filmmakers so they can produce the best possible cinematic hagiography of the President. http://www.salon.com/2012/05/23/wh_leaks_for_propaganda_film/

ewerk 31195
Is it? All the transcript said was that they got a guy to talk to them. He was talking about a mission that had already taken place. Plus I haven't seen anything that shows that he did actually release any classified information. It could just be some movie producers getting over excited that they got anyone to talk to them. Though of course it is in the US Army and government's interest to sensationalise anything to do with Osama's death.
