Kevin Carr's Gloves 3814
Just reading through some of the stuff on here no one in particular really but if you want children should you have to apply for a license and prove you are mentally capable to have children & financially capable of suporting children? If you have one without license you can retroactively apply and if you fail your child gets taken away and given to someone who has their license but is incapable of conceiving. People who have more than one unlicensed child will be sterilised!

ewerk 30266
If that were the case then we'd have a lot more children than licensed parents.
Matt 0
We spend a huge amount of money on controlling the impact of bad parenting, yet do so little around stopping it before it does its damage. How many times do you see a kid being dragged around by some tramp and think 'they've got no chance'. The parents are probably a write-off, but we can at least make a bit more effort to break the cycle. As it is, everyone has the right to have as many kids as they like and the whole of society has to pick up the bill. It's inherently wrong. Dr Gloom 21814
i've always found it odd that you have to have a license to drive a car, or shoot a gun. but any old fuckwit can bring a child into the world carefree.
wolfy 12
At what age you you term a person to be unfit to have children? I mean, is it 16, 17, 18 or what? Most people have children in the early years of their lives, from usually about 18 onwards up until whatever age they stop having them. I've seen young lads and lasses who were punk rockers and on drugs, yet by the time they reached their 20's, they actually grew up and have kids of their own who are well looked after and happy and smartly dressed. I suppose that happens across the country in similar fashion. I've also seen well to do people who batter their kids and make their upbringing a living hell but are well respected by many. Which one's do we sterilise? Who do we deem is incapable and at what age do we decide that?
Brock Manson 0
Just sterilise any bloke wearing tracksuit bottoms to the job centre. It'll save a mountain of paperwork for child licenses.

Matt 0
Because nature intended it that way, so why should it be decided who can and can't have children. Because this isn't nature. If animals neglected their young, then they would either starve or fall prey. You are also the only person on this thread who seems to think it's about sterilisation. ADP 0
There should certainly be a limitation on the amount of children people can have. However, license to have any children would run into the immediate charge of selective breeding and eugenics by those who grant the license. JawD 99
In nature if the babies of another couple are left alone or weak they are often killed. Breeding is of course natural and everyone's right. Expecting society to pay for the children time again is not. In the wild if a parent can't look after the young it is abandoned and dies. but, let's say it was done by licence based on the ability to fund and raise the children. How long until the children born themselves were judged and we started keeping or aborting based on attributes.
wolfy 12
Having Children and expecting others to support them. Fair enough but how would this be determined?Would it be the one's that openly come out and say, " we are having 8 kids and we will sponge everything off the Government"..or will it be decided who qualifies simply by guessing who might sponge. Does a woman have to have a job for a while, then have kids and go back to her job? How does this get implemented? How exactly would you implement such action if you had the power to do so? Renton 21343
Birthrate in Euro and the UK is the lowest in the world. And yet the population is increasing in the UK and becoming demographically younger....... Hmmm, who normally like to argue about this again?
