Thats makes me think you aint seen them play much

I've seen too much of some of them. I've never understood the hard on for Fergy. He's a League 1 standard player at best. The fact that he still looks like 5 stone famine victim who hasn't got a tackle in him suggests that he will never make it at this level.

Bollocks man, he can easily put some beef one as he grows. Plus look at Jonas, he's barely got anything on him. Far too early to right players like that off.

I think Sammy is the one that will break through this year, looks like our 4th best winger after Benny, Jonas and Marveaux. Also he has more pace than all of them and can be used well coming on late in a game. Still very raw, but definitely has the determination and decision making abilities that Obertan lack. Whether he can polish himself up to be a great winger, or just a mediocre pacy one remains to be seen. Some of the things he has done in pre-season has looked really promising, but you can never really judge on a pre-season.

Havent seen Sammy pre season but wasnt greatly impressed with his performances last year.

With regard to Fergie I think he has the following attributes.

He can defend similarly to the way Jonas was doing last season.

He can receive the ball out wide and deliver a great cross in first time.

He can take players on and dribble the ball into the box.

He seems to have no fear.

I think these qualities make him a great player to have on the bench and put him ahead of Sammy at the moment. That said, Marveauxs return to fitness can only make it even harder for either of them to get on ahead of him.

Looking forward to the battle though.

No fear

Hey its important when you are built like Sammy and Fergie and you have to go up against some of the really big bastards.

I forget who it was but I remember Ferguson like a little terrier with some big Chelsea or West Ham twat who was trying to kick him off the park. Im sure he had a go all Mirandinha / Beasant style.

Apart from the two signings we have made, who I think will feature quite a bit this season. (Bigirimana and Amalfitano) I think Sammi Ameobi is nailed on for regular football as he's impressed me no end pre-season and looks twice the player he was before he got injured and stronger.

I think Shane Ferguson will feature more, plus Tavernier who has also impressed me, considering he's hardly had any real playing time with the first team, yet apart from some pre-season naivety, he's generally done very well and is quicker than I thought he was.

Haris Vuckic is one hell of a talent that appears to suffer from under confidence and I can't understand why to be honest. It's as if he's a Jeckyll and Hyde character , where he will have 10 minutes of confidence and showing the talent he has and the next 10 minutes he seems to go into his shell but I know Pardew will ease him into the fold as he's well capable of making the grade.

Abheid has done ok pre-season but I'm not yet convinced about him in terms of him breaking into the first team on anything like a regular basis just yet, although I hope he proves me wrong.

Rob Elliot hasn't really had much time to impress and didn't do too well with the small pre-season run out, so the jury is well out on him as far as I'm concerned, yet I know that games build confidence, even though he's no kid...he's still a fish out of water as far as playing on the bigger stage , so on that note, it's a case of the proof will be in the pudding, IF, he is afforded the opportunity of getting game time, which I hope he doesn't if it's at the expense of a Krul injury(fingers crossed it doesn't happen)

I think the one that will make the biggest impact though is young Chester Galango because not only is he big and strong but very skilful as well and is the best striker for his age I have seen and will become our future number 9.

Chester Galango is a figment of my imagination but I thought I'd make him up to add a bit of strength to our squad and I have no idea why I even made that name up but I have and that's that. lol

Ferguson hasn't shown anything to say that he's going to be better than Sammy based on the first team performances of either.

We could probably afford to let one of the youngins out on loan seeing the amount of depth we've got in the midfield. We've got Sammy, Ferguson, Amalfitano, Vuckic, Abeid, Gosling, Bigirimana aswell as those in the first team. So giving maybe Vuckic and/or Gosling (who both seem to have progressed less than the other lot) a month or two loan at the beginning of the season could give them a bit valuable time out on the pitch instead of floating about in the reserves

You and Fish need to stop doing this.

I explained in the post very clearly what I thought he had going for him.

Hate to be a pedant, but Jonny wasn't asking what you thought he has going for him, but rather what he has shown.

For example, you state he whips in a great ball 1st time (I'm paraphrasing), but that's not something I would immediately associate with him. I would say that he commits players, because I've seen him do it consistently. I've not seen him show a propensity to whip in great 1st time balls.

and re: the other thread, I'll reiterate; You've said why we are good, but haven't taken into account the fact that other teams had an unusually poor league season.

I never said that did I. I said can you explain to me what he has shown during his first team appearances to rate him so much higher than Sammy when I don't think there's really been any difference between them both.

The things I like about Ferguson are his work-rate, tenacity and how fearless he is with the ball at his feet. However I think it's fair to say that we're yet to see any end product from him.
