Graeme Souness

Newcastle United Football Club

St James’ Park

Newcastle-upon-Tyne

NE1 4ST

Dear Mr Souness

Firstly let me thank you for your efforts over the last sixteen months. It has been an experience we Newcastle supporters will never forget.

This now brings me to the point of this letter. Since your arrival at Newcastle United you have spoken often about the importance of “proper players,” of determination and effort.

And yet we supporters ask where is your “proper” attitude, where is your determination and effort?

Over the Christmas period I have had the (mis)fortune of watching our Newcastle play both Liverpool and Middlesbrough and I see nothing “proper” in your attitude, let alone your team selection, refusal to acknowledge the importance of tactics and inability to organise players who are clearly out of sorts.

Look Mr Souness this is not an attack on the wrongs you have committed over the last sixteen months at Newcastle and being completely honest there have been many expensive ones.

This is an appeal to your senses.

Newcastle United has been generous to you during your time here. Whenever you have asked for something it has happened.

You wanted money for players, it was produced.

You wanted to take the players away for a team building exercise, it was arranged.

You wanted certain players out, it happened.

And yet now it appears when you have failed at the challenge you accepted with open arms and a slight jig (remember after your first game?), it appears that you are not willing to do the “proper” and gentlemanly thing of resigning from the club!

Have you not spent enough of Newcastle United’s money with little return?

Mr Souness please see some sense and resign.

Instead of lining your pockets with money you don’t deserve, give the club the chance to use the funds to hire a manager that can repair the damage you have done.

Graeme, do the “proper” thing and give us the supporters the chance to salvage some respect for you as a person.

Regards
