The Fish 10962
Last few days I've been unable to access the internet because of this fault. It's saying my "Local area Connection" doesn't have a valid IP configuration I'm using a powerline booster and I've tried rebooting that, and the main router. I'm unable to change it from a public to a home or work network, I can't delete it, I've tried running CMD as a an admin and "Route Delete 0.0.0.0" to no avail. I'm currently using the iPhone as a wifi router, which obviously isn't ideal. Can anybody (in layman's terms) guide me through this? south_cheshire_toon 0
I'd try any of the recommendations that a general google search throws up. But in a nutshell :- Plug laptop direct into the router - see if you get an ip address, if not, then either the router is buggered or the ethernet port is. Try your laptop in another router if possible to confirm, and if working then for some reason the router's dhcp config is out of the window. it's hard to diagnose an issue over a text conversation but google will be your best help. It's a desktop, but I'll try these over the weekend, cheers
Phil 6
Are you using the powerline as a wireless bridge i.e. the desktop doesnt have wireless capability, so you are using the wifi booster to get onto the iPhone's wireless connection? If so, 1) You are king of the pikies... 2) Log onto the powerline and check it is in bridge mode (default will be wifi extender). manually adding your IP details will help remove IP issues. To change the network type from public to home. search for "Network and Sharing Center" and click on the network type (it will say Public network if its set as public)
