Howmanheyman 33282
Probably means nothing to most on here but former Northern Ireland and QPR Skipper Alan McDonald died at only 48 years of age. That's no age at all and as a kid who was brought up in Tyneside but spent time in Ulster as my Mother was from the Province I have a fond memory of that wee country punching above their weight and getting to a couple of World Cups. I remember NI playing England in a World cup qualifier at Wembley needing to get a draw to qualify for Mexico '86 and England had already qualified. Anyway, they got their draw, (0-0 IIRC) and one of the presenters from BBC Sportsnight grabbed a hold of big Alan after the final whistle and hinted at England not trying to help them out to which McDonald more or less offered to see anyone with such questions after the match to put them right as sweat was pissing off him. RIP big man.
