May have been a mistake when someone called from below and said "12 miners were alive" meaning they HAD BEEN alive not they ACTUALLY STILL ARE alive

Why would someone announce "12 miners WERE alive"? Do they usually only employ the walking dead in mines in the US?

I presume Rob meant someone was stressing that they weren't killed in the explosion and were still alive after.

I don't think speculating about what someone may have meant in an annoucement that may never have been made i.e. "12 miners were alive" makes perfect sense. But there you go...

Like AF?

I'm still a little confused as to how the mix up came about myself... is the survivor still in critical condition?
