Barney 0
Speaking to The Journal after Newcastle clinched the 12th Guadiana Trophy by defeating SC Braga, Cabaye said that he is in constant contact with Debuchy, who is simply waiting for a fee to be agreed to move to England. “Mathieu has made a very difficult to decision to leave Lille but he has made the decision. Now I hope Newcastle push for Mathieu and I want them to do the deal,” he said. “I spoke with him two days ago and he told me he wants to come. I hope Derek (Llambias) and Mike Ashley will do the business now. “He wants to play for Newcastle and I hope that he comes to Newcastle because, of course, he is my friend but also a very good player for Newcastle.”
Holden McGroin 6783
Reading between the lines there it looks like he wants to come but there is a stumbling block with money somewhere or other.
Andrew 4857
theres time to get the deal done, the most important thing is that he wants to come, it forces lilles hand slightly (especially since theyve already signed his replacement) but at the same time, after a good euros his value will never be higher for them. stay frosty and all that

PaddockLad 17646
Aye, Lille maybe think we'll get desperate and give them what they want on August 30th. We're more likely to move on others though...I see Erik Peter's has reared his head again over the weekend....is he still injured?...
Park Life 71
I'd rather have the new Holland left back Willems who although looked out of his depth in that Euro game, looks like he has bags of talent. Only 18.

Park Life 71
than debuchy or pieters? If we don't get Debuchy. Play Santon at RB behind Hatem would be pretty scary for most PL opposition.

Barney 0
NEWCASTLE UNITED are hoping to have Lille defender Mathieu Debuchy signed by Wednesday. The Chronicle understands the long, drawn-out transfer is finally reaching a conclusion. With the Magpies due back on Tyneside tomorrow, the addition of Aussie defender Curtis Good could also be tied up by the end of the week. A fee and personal terms are thought to have been agreed with Debuchy’s side. Once he is onboard, Newcastle will then turn their attentions to the other end of the field with interest in Loic Remy and Andy Carroll still active – despite incorrect weekend reports the Marseille star is no longer on the United radar. Despite a degree of panicking from certain Toon observers, though, Pardew told the Chronicle from the Algarve: “I am hoping by the end of the week somebody will be through the door. “There is a good chance of that.” The addition of Debuchy could also trigger the end for Danny Simpson. As reported in the Chronicle last week, United will look to offload the contract rebel – with Reading in the running to sign the ex-Manchester United man. Meanwhile, Carroll is staying open-minded about his future after telling West Ham United he will not make a hasty move. Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has again claimed Carroll is wanted at the Kop club – despite initially suggesting he was available for transfer. Carroll came off the bench in Baltimore in the 0-0 exhibition game with Tottenham Hotspur and is now preparing for Liverpool’s Europa League qualifier against FC Gomel. Rodgers said: “The reality is Andy is still a Liverpool player. “He can fit into how I want to play and he is happy here. “I am not wishing to push him out of the door.”
