FA Statement: Roy Hodgson

Sunday, 29 April, 2012

Approach made to WBA regarding England Manager's position.

West Bromwich Albion have today granted permission for The FA to speak with Roy Hodgson regarding the position of England Manager.

This follows an approach from FA Chairman David Bernstein to West Bromwich Albion Chairman Jeremy Peace.

David Bernstein said: "I'm grateful to Jeremy and all at West Bromwich Albion for their co-operation in allowing us to approach Roy, who I have since spoken with.

"Roy is the only manager we have approached and we remain on course to make an appointment within the timescale we set-out soon after Fabio Capello's departure.

"Further conversations will now take place with Roy and my Club England colleagues before any further announcements can be made."

Probably not the case bit it would be funny if Redknapp did really want the job but its Spurs' shit form (possibly caused by the speculation) that's cost him it.

is it rude to tell a journalist that when he asks "will the country get behind him" that it basically depends on how quickly he and his colleagues turn on him?

and mentioning his "liverpool stint" I dont think I know a single non liverpool fan who doesnt think woy got the raw end of the deal with liverpool, especially considering daglishs spending and league record since taking over

We had the best of the best (allegedly) with Capello, and looked even shitter than usual. Chelsea are showing atm that a good man manager trumps a good tactician sometimes

What Chelsea have is a short-term boost in the arm but not a long-term solution.

Though that would have been enough for you in the Euros. Hodgson isn't exactly the kind of guy who is going to instantly inspire the players and have them playing above their capabilities.
