NewJerseyMag 0
On the bright side we clearly have some very talented players if FS can just do the decent thing. 72968[/snapback] There is a whole lot more wrong with the club, including FS himself. The sacking of SBR and appointment of a 5th choice manager smacks of incompetence of the highest level. The management from top to bottom is pathetic, the coaching is non existant and the medical team hopeless. The most decent thing FS could do would be to wait until the summer, resign and for his successor to clear out the whole management, coaching and medical staff and start from scratch. adios 717
I have no problem with FS, I think Douglas Hall is a big problem but he's here to stay unless a major buyer steps in, we can still be a major force with them at the club, not with Souness. A lot of modern managers would change the other elements you've mentioned. Edited January 2, 2006 by DotBum
Craig 6700
We were in a far more depressing position in the Januarys of 1989 and 1992 IMO.

TheInspiration 1
5th place not good enough so we sack a fantastic manager. All of a sudden 14th is acceptable for a club like us, and there was very little talk of how the guy was not sacked. Ridiculous really.

Any manager wit confidence in their ability should want the job, and anyone turning it down is a fool and a coward for shirking what is really, the biggest challenge in England, but can offer massive rewards for whoever cracks it. Unless he actually uses imagination for a change.

sweetleftpeg 0
The board have splashed the cash so we can't blame them on that front. However, a lot of the decisions made and the PR begger belief. After what happened to Leeds our board seemed to have lost their bottle. From where I'm standing we appear to have no long term strategy. The board have an arrogant swagger about them that was the reason we've got Souness in the first place, sack Robson early on and think the best were going to beg for the manager's job. Fucking clueless. The obsession with 'Geordie this and Geordie that' is getting well on my tits now as well. I want the best players and manager we can get, not the most lercal. Welcome to the 21st century.

Rob W 0
at least then the Board seems to have recognised there WAS a problem - they seem blinded by Souness
