Cabin in the Woods

The other half bought a couple of vouchers for the cinema as one of my birthday presents, and so we decided to make a night of it on Saturday and watch a film at the flicks before moving on to Bar 28 for a bit of groupon food action (yes we are very rock and roll - thank you for noticing).

It was a toss up between the Hunger Games and Cabin in the woods, with my other half preferring to see the former but relenting on seeing the odd looking horror film due it being part of my birthday present from a couple of weeks ago.

A bit of congestion due to the Toon playing saw us hastily running to our seats just in time for the start of the film, and for the next hour and a half I sat there somewhat confussed by the weird and wonderful happenings going on in front of me. This film is pretty much like nothing I've seen before which is both a good and a bad thing... it reminded me a bit of The Evil Dead in places, and had some really odd moments, some really funny moments, some really B movie moments, and some shit your pants jumpy moments.

Has anyone else watched it and what did you think? I think I really liked it, but it left me feeling a little dazed by the end. It's certainly something different to the usual tried and tested horror films we sit throught ime and time again, and despite the very generic title it's got a hell of a lot more layers to it than just a teen horror set in a cabin in the woods.

Overall I thought it was very good, but very weird!

Hunger games was class like. If I was in that competition I`d ravage Katniss` corpse after I had knocked her the fuck out of the contest.

Might have to wait for that to come out on DVD now as doubt I'll get to see it at the cinema... although saying that we have Netflix so might have to wait until 2030 before I get to see it!

Theres a thread for this sort of thing ;)

What you said is exactly what I put in the film thread. I found it like Evil Dead with an extra 45mins. They obviously had a laugh making it and some bits were funny and it was very B-movie like. So long as you're not expecting a huge hit and go in with an open mind, its very enjoyable.

Hunger games was good as well but a very very different film ;)

Hunger Games was shite. Poor man's battle royale/running man for little girls. Typical pg13 alluded to violence with added teeny love story

Agreed. This is the new paradigm for the matrix however. Watch.

Spot on. It had potential to be a good film.
